Went backyard birding and the experience was eye catching. Got to see morning Sparrows, Cardinals red males and brown females. Indigo bunting was pretty as well. Loved it and MARY was the greatest very knowledgeable person about bird. Definitely will do more activities at this preserve

Wash Rock is one of my favorite places in the entire world. If you want a fire, bring a grill. The boat cops will absolutely make you put out any fire you build, even if it's literally next to the water, if it isn't in a grill. Besides that, this place is clean and fun and great year-round.

My wife and I visited Latta on a local's recommendation and we weren't disappointed. It's a lovable Nature Preserve. We took the Hill Trail and the Split Rock Trail.

What time do the gates close to the park // do you have to leave ???? Website says Latta Nature preserve closed at 8:45 , & Latta center closed at 5pm - confusing

The nature center closes at 5pm. But you can stay in the park until "dusk"... right now their signs say 7pm because of the season change

I don't think Latta Plantation has any ramps you could launch from however there are some other public boat ramps on mountain island lake. Personally I would go to lake Norman and Blyth landing for jet skis. Awesome ramps and docking specific for jet skis.
