Be careful when you come here it won't be pleased especially if you are disabled. They make you wait outside on the side walk with no chairs in the hot sun. Very unexceptable. People were struggling to wait outside while I was there it was sad seeing this.

Accepting walk ins expect to wait 3+ hrs If you have an appt expect to wait 2 hrs There were only 4 windows open. The toll free number is a Federal number not state expect to wait 40mins-1 hr to speak with someone

I was here a week ago. Exactly a week ago. Yes, there was a line cause #covid and they can only have ten people in the building at all times. Whatever, it went fast. Security was nice. I got called up within half an hour. Went to go change my name after an ugly divorce. Girl with the tattoos all over? Girrrrrlllll top tier! Super sweet. Just checked my email for my usps informed delivery and guess what’s in there? My new social security card! So fast, so convenient! Thanks so much Arden location social security!

Lol selected to continue my call and the automated voice said "thank you for calling social security. Goodbye." Didn't even get to the part where you request to talk to a representative. Whoever is responsible for the way the automated system works is also responsible for people being angry with the real life people who end up actually taking the call. I've called every free chance I get to set an appointment for something I can't do online and still haven't been able to reach someone to talk to. I'm lucky my thing isn't time sensitive YET but man I feel for people who need urgent help. OK I'm putting it at 3. 1 star for the system and 5 for the staff. She was so kind and helpful. I finally got through by calling back 5 or so consecutive times back to back. The first times the system said "call back later" and hung up (not counting the instance I posted about above) and the last time I got into the queue and waited about 15min for someone to pick up my call. After that it was smooth sailing. Finally 3 months of work have paid off lol.

The only appointments I have heard of are the ones when you apply for benifits, or Social Security staff made. Otherwise you just have to go in and wait for your number to come up.

They should have offered you the option of having the payments go a pre-paid debit card with Direct Express if you don't have a bank account. You can have payments go on that card for one month and then set up a bank account for future payments.
You can actually request the replacement card online. You don't necessarily need to go in. If you do go in and you live in Sacramento County you must go to the location at 8581 Folsom Blvd, Suite B. They don't set up appointments for replacement cards, but you shouldn't have a long wait since all they do is cards at this location.

Yes there is a drop box but you will have to wait threw security scan and pat down . so make sure you only have your paperwork with you to make it go fast.
If you already are receiving benefits, you can create a my Social Security account and start or change Direct Deposit online. And also take the direct deposit form from your bank to one of SSO location in order to get help and switch it. Good luck👍👍
