This was my first time here and I was definitely impressed! Max, the bartender on duty, was awesome. I told him I wanted something sweet and he delivered (Strawberry Shortcake was the name in case y'all wanna try it!). The wait wasn't long at all. My server was super sweet and the cook was awesome! He was funny and did a great job cooking the food and putting on a show. He was also very talkative with our table (good thing). I had an amazing first experience and will be going back!

There are a lot of different choices for teppanyaki style Japanese cuisine in Winston-Salem but me and my family keep coming back to Tokyo. The food is amazing and we’ve become quite good friends with Max, the quirky bartender who can literally make anything. I’ve told friends and coworkers to visit just to try his Jamaican beach resort or s’mores (pictured) cocktail. The service has always been great and even though it can get pricey, we think that it’s worth it every time. I’m not a big sushi fan but my family members who are often get their specialty rolls and love it. Me and my husband share a plate usually and still have food left to take home. The only thing that I have a complaint on is the actual building. The inside is in desperate need of a refurb.

The Tokyo Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi Experience ( Dine-in Edition). Some friends and I wanted to eat Japanese food on this day, so we went to Tokyo. We did not make reservations but sat at the bar to have a few drinks before being seated at the table. Max, the bartender, certainly kept us company and entertained while waiting for our table. He was very confident and proud of his capability to make any drink you could desire and wasn't shy with his words on his mixing skills. I ordered a pineapple martini, and with one drink down and some laughs, we were at our table in no time. It did take a while for our waiter to come, and I don't remember a formal hello, but our waiter brought our soups to the table and then took our order. I ordered their special, which was chicken, shrimp, and steak. The meal came with an onion broth soup and a salad. Nevertheless, our chef came to the table and prepared a delicious meal. It's always exciting to see your food prepared right before your eyes and to have the opportunity to take advantage of the five basic senses (touch, sight, hearing, smell, and taste). Would I go back to Tokyo again? I definitely would go back. The food and the experience were good.

Mike the bartender is absolutely amazing! He created a drink based off of my love for my home state of Georgia & made it just as sweet as the peaches grown from the trees there. Not to mention the service was wonderful and the food was fresh and yummy! What great service, and a wonderful family atmosphere! We will definitely be back!

Yes, they are open daily at 5 p.m. until 9:30 except for on Saturdays and Sundays the hours are different
Yes you can pay with cash as well
No! You can definitely walk in and get seated. Chances are you will be sharing a table, though
Ha ha 😂 hibay...I think she meant hibachi... and yes they cook in front of you...it's really good... best Japanese food I've ever had..
Yes....very kid friendly. I've taken my boys there for years and now they are in their early to mid 20's and we still all go.
Yes
No
Probably around 120 without drinks...
Yes they do.
Absolutely. There is a small charge for a second plate.
I say very doubtful. Two people is an awkward situation at that huge table. Mostly groups. Perhaps you can call to see if they have small seating areas or eat at the bar.
They do have kids menu and specials.. but considering that you have 6 grandchildren..then expect to pay at least 80$ for just 6 kids, they give you ALOT of food cooking in front of you... but trust me it is well worth it ...it is the BEST Japanese restaurant in Winston Salem NC... great professional culinary experience... it's not just food...it's also a show they put on with fire and tricks juggling and etc.... The kids will have a great time...2 adults is about 45$...so if it's 2 adults and 6 kids... expect to spend 150$... I highly recommend this restaurant and I hope you enjoy your time with your family.. good day.
You also get appetizer shrimp 3 of them
You can get rice, noodles and vegetables cooked hibachi style, plus salad
