Booked a night at random - long time Portland resident. The Francis was absolutely perfect. I had room 304 and it was also perfect. Staff was friendly and not overbearing. They text and communicate well - which I enjoy a lot. They let me know that the desk person leaves at 10pm but gave me all the info I needed. Room was small, but I was there to sleep and relax not hang out inside lol. Its so close to all the dope west end bars and restaurants. Felt like I was staying at my rich grandmas low key, which is awesome lol. Vibe was times a million also. Will absolutely stay again and recommend to all friends and family.

The Francis is a quaint hotel, but lacks the inviting warmth of many historic properties. If we had planned further in advance, we would have aimed for a different East End place, like an Inn or Bed and Breakfast. Our room 004 was very large, but I will echo other comments about the lack of sound proofing. Each morning we heard arrivals and alarms going off around us.

Pros: -Allows dogs! Nice ground floor pet room, almost looks like a 1/2 basement type room. -Nice amenities such as water/beer/wine in fridge for purchase. -Good location. Cons: -Front desk was lukewarm for reception. -Coffee not available in lobby or anywhere if you need an early start for work. They have instant coffee in your room if you care for that, no cream available. -The Tavern was not open and listed as open. No room service. -Didn't offer to help with luggage.
