Such a delightful, lesser-known, old-Florida beach! Relaxing and exciting at the same time: from dreamy sand and mild, warm Gulf waters, to hunting eons-old fossils which wash up in the surf (shark's teeth galore!) along with lovely seashells, driftwood and coral... and not nearly as many people as other spots. Ample parking in 2 lots as well as across the street for overflow. Lifeguards til 4 pm. Public bathrooms, water fountain, and outdoor showers, plus ramps up the walkover both coming from and going to the sand.

I was at North Jetty Park and walked to Nokomis Beach. The whole way it was very rough sand with a LOT of shells. Nokomis Beach look like they clean up the shells at the waters edge, which was nicer. Nice waves all along the way. Of course there is a jetty at North Jetty Park where boats come in and out. Just not nice sandy beaches, which I prefer.

According to multiple posts on TripAdvisor, Nokomis beach is a "no pet" beach. However, down by Venice beach there is a pet friendly section.
