If I could leave zero stars I would. My current employer put in a request on April 27th and it is STILL pending. They refuse to tell me why its still pending and I'm told "It could take up to 12 weeks to process due to short staffing". Well its August 23th. That's a more than 12 weeks. The state already takes enough out out of my paycheck. I will not allow them to hold my retirement fund captive.

These people work for the employees of the commonwealth to help with effective and accurate retirement correct? Someone needs to tell them because they are utterly useless. What exactly are they doing that they have the paycheck that they do, I sure know it’s not helping the people they are supposed to be serving. And judging from the number of terrible reviews no one is doing anything in the management chain to fix this issue. Way to fit the stereotypes of government workers Massachusetts. I don’t even want to be affiliated with these people or this organization.

My a husband left service back in September and immediately completed the packet for refund. The packet was recieved in October 2021. It is now March 2022, at this point no check has been issued, voicemails and emails go unanswered. 22 weeks later. The lack of response and the entire process is problematic.

The person I spoke with was great, his name was Frank. That being said I've waited nearly a year to hear back on a buy back issue, that never came. I finally called and Frank took my call and was helpful. But my issue was not resolved because more paper work was necessary, I certainly would have completed the paperwork if someone had let me know that more was required. It seems to me this process could be streamlined greatly. Thank you again Frank for your help.

How do I find out what my Insurance and Dental will cost in Group 4 Retirement? 27.3 years and what other deductions, such as med taxes State and federal ?

No state tax on state pensions. If you are non union member, you can purchase dental and eye exam coverage through GIC, at $39. If you are a nage member, they get you cobra coverage for dental and eyeglasses at $19 per month. As for your medical insurance, that depend on whether your age 65 yet. If you are on Medicare, your GIC becomes your supplement, a lot less costly to you. If medicare has not kicked in yet, you pay the same rate as if you are still working. Go see a retirement counselor at 8 Winter St Boston. They are phenomenal people. After all is said and done, you will be paying GIC coverages, and federal taxes out of your retirement check. Good luck!

That depends on how many years of service you have, your salary average (3 or 5 year average pre/post reform of 4/2/12), and your age factor.

I am interested in going back to work part time and/or per diem. What is the limit I can earn without it interfering with my monthly retirement?

It is advised to call them for such an inquiry. Google is not an optimal place to reach out to such an organization.

When does December check come it can early last year

Checks are usually issued at the end of each month. I would advise you to call the MSRB to confirm, as Google questions are not a viable way of communicating with them.

I retired March 9, 2018, will my first check include payments from that date?

Patricia Leary | Sep 6, 2018
Ellen Cataldo | Sep 6, 2018

Your retirement check would start with the your first day retired off the payroll. For example, if tour last day of your job was March 9, then your retirement check would begin March 10. If your last day was March 8, then you will receive payment beginning March 9. Hope that helps!
