While visiting family in New England there has been a place I've been wanting to see for sometime. The Varnum Memorial Armory Museum. I called ahead and made arrangements for a tour which was given to me by the gentleman Tim Jackson. I waited for Mr Jackson to arrive as I waited outside looking at this unique building with the original bars in the windows. Just the outside of the building was in pristine shape. Tim showed up on time and lead me into the building. Posters were on the walls from eras long ago. The stairway lead to the top floor and the woodwork was all original. Tim gave me an excellent tour throughout the history areas. I was blown away by the guns and cannons and how well they were preserved. So much to see with rifles and machine guns uniforms badges flags. Everything that that was preserved in wartimes. Tim explained in great detail the generals and the many people who's pictures that were framed on the walls. He answered my questions through the entire tour. This is the place for students to learn American and foreign history. Just by the guns that were used by soldiers And the pictures on the walls. There is another gentleman named Patrick and a young Lady who work there. Patrick does a lot of research on everything in there. The young lady preserves the old uniforms and flags and does an outstanding job. Definately a place for young and old . Plenty of outside parking Clean restrooms Excellent exhibits I rate this museum 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

What a great place! Driven by it a thousand times!.. Wife and I attended the Guns and Beer evening for laughs. It was really very impressive !!! Great food, real nice people and an incredible collection of military history and about a dozen or more local brew companies. We will be back again for a closer look at the many artifacts when its not so crowded. I look forward to the monthly military history lectures here and there. What a treasure.

Great open building for business and formal functions, but the real treat is the history and artifacts that are on display downstairs. A real amazing collection of photos, guns, uniforms and memorabilia.
