A compelling story about an important part of American history. Worth a look, and a walk.

Very nice place. Free. Great for children. Very historic. Docents on weekends.

Totally recommend visiting this preserved Shaker community. Special thanks to Lorraine who took us on a private tour and offered us a wonderful explanation of what life was like in the community all the way from the 1700's until when it finally closed, stopping by the meeting house, the herb garden, the barn and the lodging house (from the outside). Recommend going on a guided tour if available. The gift shop is lovely as well. We bought one of the little Shaker brooms of course. :) Last of all, there is an easy hike you can take around the pond and through the trees. Prepare for a visit of 2 to 3 hours to get everything out of it.

What a great place to explore and actually see some of the great Shaker inventions. With the buildings still standing they are going to make one of them into housing for veterans.
