I used to go to the beautiful Millicent library every week back in the 1970’s when I lived close by in New Bedford. One day while sitting at one of the thick, ancient oak tables reading I noticed another oak table smoldering in a spot caused by the sun’s rays focused strongly through the window and heating a spot on the table. It started to smoke badly and I told a librarian before a fire started. So many years later I still remember this and have never had any other “spontaneous combustion” moments again in my life.

We visit the library almost every week! My boys love to read in the library and we borrow CDs too for the whole family to watch during weekends with popcorn or cookies and milk. The ladies working there are very nice and approachable. Literally helps you with every way they can and they're very sweet too. We love visiting the library of all places. Very beautiful old building with an amazing architecture. The walls the windows and the cabinets are really pretty and it feels good to visit such places all the time and admire it at the same time.
