It surely isn't what you expect when you think of " The VA" . From the moment I arrived in the ER until I was discharged a few hours later, it was nothing but first class service and care unlike any I have ever experienced. Every single person was friendly, understanding and compassionate. The CT and Ultrasound Techs needed to be called in after working all day, and my primary nurse was being mandated to work till midnight. Despite the hardship on their end, they were amazing, and not only to me, but to each individual under their care. Veterans are being served well by the wonderful folks at the Stratton VA...thanks to all of you!

Hospital, techs, nurses I'd give a 4. But has anyone had the bad luck of having to stay a night at the stratton inn on the 9th floor ?? Yes its free, yes that helps when you have 2 visits back to back and can't afford gas to drive it 4 times.BuT.. The inn is horrible. It is clean that's why a 2 rating . we were lied to and told my husband and I could order our food from choices they would have. WRONG the vet gets a tray but no choice of what it is, the caregiver or wife like me does not. Instead they plopped a can of soup on the counter and there ya go. Next the beds are rock hard so if you have back, hip or stroke problems don't even try. There is one public shower and only a few rooms have a toilet. The thermostat read 79 and a.c. was non existent. And window opened about 3 inches.there is WiFi but no internet so if you bring a nook or laptop or phone without data leave it in the car.so couldn't get in touch with family to let them know their dad was ok. Phone in room would not call out and when I asked how to do it ,got snapped at and told and told this isn't a hotel you know. Yes I know its not,its a space to stay when there's a need but is it really worth it when what your told is lies and rudeness is rampant.. Never again . we left came home and will borrow the funds to get back again.

I'm a VA Healthcare Enrollee and a US Navy Veteran. The service and care provided to me since I've been out of the military has been remarkable. They have really changed for best. The Stratton VA Medical Center provides specialized medical services such as: cardiac catheterization, cardiac rehabilitation, nuclear medicine, radiation oncology, stereotactic radiosurgery, hospice/palliative care, adult day health care, post-traumatic stress disorder, compensated work therapy, memory clinic, geriatric assessment, nursing home and respite care.

If you are a veteran, this is your one stop shop. Staff are caring and professional. Facilities are clean and comfortable. I brought my WWII father here for primary care, ophthalmology, optometry, audiology and podiatry. Was very happy with our experience - You will be too.

MY issue with the VA cafeteria is that it closes at 3:30. When my husband and I arrived the night before his procedure I couldn't get anything to eat.
Come into the 4th floor and go Right up to the desk and they will set you up. Bring g your ID.
Is the va offering a buyout
Sorry to hear that but it would be better to call them directly to find out. If your Dad was on assistants such as food stamps SSA does.
There is a tax free store located in the basement that has many different items and offer different sales weekly.
No. The VA is funded differently than the rest of the federal government.
All you have to do is go the the Blue Team or Red Team registration area. They will help with everything. If you have your med files, you may want to bring them or copues of. Have uour DD214 in hand too.

No valet parking that could see. However, a person with a Golf Cart will pick you up at your vehicle, if needed. The Parking Lot is not very well organized and the pavement is not clearly marked for each vehicle. It needs work.
Yes
I received my second Moderna shot here on April 5th and was unable to verify through the Excelsior pass app. I'm going to call the VA to ask about that on Monday (the 12th). Once I find out an answer, I'll update this response if possible.
Go to www.myhealth.va.gov or www.va.gov
Yes
The VA is always looking for volunteers. Any time you can give is appreciated. Call and ask for Volunteer Services for information.
I have not had any issues on my end. Did you go to the travel pay window? Ask the ladies behind the desk and they should be able to help you.
It's open for patients that go through the ER emergency room
The Nuclear medicine department is located in Building 27. You can either park out back if you are a patient or you come through the main entrance and follow signs that will take you through the Emergency Room. Once through the ER take the elevator to the first floor.
They have a "healthy teaching kitchen" program there. Call up HR and see if they can direct you to the dieticians.
Yes

There's no smoking on the property. However, due to the Veterans living in the Community Living Center, an enclosed smoking shelter is provided.
In my experience with VA, there should be a Patient Advocate who works on behalf of Veterans. Go to your VA's directory and try to find the contact.
You will need to contact Dr Saxon office and inn sure you will have to fill out paperwork to release his records to Dr Newnan. Dr. Newnan is not on the VA provider list. So their isn't a fax that I can give you.
Contact the local operator when calling the Stratton VA and ask what address should you use for sending flowers, most florists are very astute and will sometimes verify name and room # given at front desk!
It depends on the day. You will wait but not sure how long.
Yes 24 7
