The beers here are more traditional, less experimental, really good. By far best burger in chittenden county. Burger was medium rare, incredibly juicy and seasoned well. Def going back to try the other dishes.

Our small group stopped in for lunch. A pleasant setting with friendly staff. The beer and food selection was able to satisfy our group of various tastes. I enjoyed the 17oz Pilsner in a wonderful glass.

Came for dinner on a Friday night. We had 3 different beers, all of which were very good. We also had charcuterie, flank steak, and donuts which were delicious. Shrimp and grits were too watery/soupy for my taste. Overall we had a good experience and plan to come back.

Phenomenal experience overall. Excellent food. Top-notch beer and cocktails. Great service. My family went multiple times while staying in Essex and we would recommend it without reservation to anyone in the area. It's kid-friendly, but also has a modern, grown-up vibe. On our first trip, we shared a lot of the small plates and had flights of beer. The staff provided really good recommendations for both the food and the drink pairings. I was a little hesitant on some of the items, but took a leap of faith that paid off as everything we tried was excellent. The Shishito Peppers, Green Tomato Carpaccio, and the Smoked Octopus were all favorites with the family. For our next trip, we went with the traditional dinners. The Smash Burger (with bacon) and jalapeño chips were amazing, though I would have paid extra for the house-made fries. I also sampled the Shrimp and Grits and it's the best I've had outside of Savannah, GA. I went with some cocktails - the Old Fashioned and the Comfortably Numb Too - and both were on-point. It was hot and rainy while we were in Vermont, so we didn't spend any time on the patio or Biergarten, but imagine both to be a good time when the weather cooperates. Highly recommended!

Hi Mary Jane, The Barrel Room is a separate space. in between the brewery and distillery where we have additional seating for dine-in service, host special events, conduct our beer education classes, and age beer in barrels. It has it's own bar & bathroom as well.
