GMP are all about collecting their money. I care for my 100 year old aunt (YES SERIOUSLY SHE IS 100!) ...I paid her light bill and because she didn't have enough after all her Bill's to pay HALF of the bill, they showed up 3 days after payment to shut her lights off!!! UPDATE! Since COVID hit this review has now changed. There is a huge compassion for the state of Vermont and the current situation

This company deserves recognition for a storied reputation of community service through inclement weather, and dire circumstances 24/7, truly a Vermont Community Asset.

Green Mountain Power is ripping people off with their "budget billing" plan. We are among the people being ripped off and, so far, haven't got any one to listen or do anything about it. We signed up for the budget billing plan because we were told that we would pay the same amount every month for 12 months. We were told that the amount we paid was determined by taking the total amount that we were billed over 12 months divided by 12. That sounded like a great deal. We signed up and everything was fine for 4 months. Then, we got a letter saying our bill was going up. We thought it was strange because our usage had decreased from when we signed up. At the new rate, we calculated that we would be paying GMP 30% more than we really owed. We called to complain. We were told there was nothing that could be done about it. Eight months into the plan, we got another letter. Our bill went up, again. This month, we got another letter. Another increase. We are now required to pay GMP, nearly double what we actually use per month. The folks at GMP do not seem to care that we are disabled and on a limited income. (They told us to sign up for their discount program that would reduce the actual cost of our monthly usage by 25%. However, our bill would not go down because of the "budget billing" plan. ) To get out of budget billing, we would have to pay them, I am not kidding, the equivalent of 4 months of bills up front, which we do not have. Somehow, they are getting away with overcharging us and no one can do anything about it.

You'd have to call them and they'll send you one
Yes they can! Call and ask them to come and look and they will chase wires and see what is going where!
