Peaceful and love hearing all the woodpeckers toiling away early in the morning

This is a great little getaway to see an old 1860's farm right outside of Gainesville, FL. Nice walking paths, an old schoolhouse with a cabin and a working farm with livestock. Try it if you're looking for something off the beaten path.

Loved playing my jaw harp at the Long Leaf Pine Fiddle Contest! The cane boil was fun to watch as well and my buddy Alfred Geiger even gave them a few tips. He's been making cane syrup for over 80 years in North Florida! This is a great place for an event!

We had a ton of fun at the Living History Farm in Morningside Nature Park. Our girls fed chickens, sheep, and pigs. They both had a blast feeding the sheep by hand. They do the feedings for the public on Wednesday afternoons and it's free, but they accept donations of fruits and veggies listed on their website. We brought a couple apples, sweet potato, and carrots.

No fee! The 1st Saturday of each month they have Living History Days at the farm. I recommend to check it out! It is interactive and they make the best homemade biscuits with real cane syrup they grow on the farm. You can also feed Penny the cow and sheep and hogs!
Limited access on the nature trails, but you should be fine visiting the nature center and with some extra effort the living history farm
No, they're not. It's a nature preserve with lots of wildlife and resident livestock on their 1900's era farm. More info on City of Gainesville website: www.cityofgainesville.org
