Just moved here from sarasota, the difference is night and day. I was a bit of a pain myself i think expecting a similar experience to what I dealt with in sarasota, not even close. Everyone was great and accommodating and got me wrapped up really fast. Excellent experience and super kind and fast service. Makes me wanna request some more permits π

As a contractor Iβm always coming here for various activities and I canβt remember a single bad experience. All their requirements are clear and easy. And I must say, the inspectors are very easy to deal with. Inspectors usually have a negative view towards inspectors but in my experience the inspectors are very reasonable and helpful. You can call them directly and if they donβt answer they actually call me back. Keep up the good work everyone!

Been in the office several times for the owner builder permit process as I do have a lot of construction background, process was very good and easy if you have what you need ready and already filled out. Staff are always excellent and have done great for me. Even sent emails with questions and surprising they have answered them quickly. I give them a thumbs up and greatly appreciate the good customer service they provide. Looking forward to living in this county.

We have applied for a owner built Lanai permit. The process is very different from what we are accustomed to, but the staff we intitially dealt with were very helpful and their help and advice was very much appreciated. The trouble began after we received our "your permit is ready for pick up" e-mail. We had an unexpected family death and had to return to Canada. We called the building dept. to see if a friend could pick up our permit for us. We were told they could. When they went to pick up the permit they would not let him pick it up. We spoke to Jennifer and explained our situation and the reason we could not pick up the permit ourselves. Jennifer made it VERY CLEAR that only the permit applicant or a builder could pick up the permit. We are the applicant and the builder. She told us several times that it was not a county law, but a Florida state law and there was no exceptions. We asked to speak to her supervisor, Bob Bailey. He was not available. We did email him hoping for some guidance and assistance. We never heard back from him. We have a concrete contractor set up to pour next week and need the permit to proceed. My husband has flown from Canada to Florida today, will pick up our permit tomorrow and fly back home Friday. This is the worst customer service we have ever encountered with anyone or any company in Florida. Unfortunately, if you are going to build or improve your home in Charlotte County, this is the BS you will have to put up with.

You put your fence on your property lines
Yes.
Yes
Foundation, Wood, Walls, Framing, Sheathing, Roof, Etc
I have the same question
For 100 fee I'll answer that.
They do passports at the Clerk of Courts. Address is 18500 Murdock Circle Port Charlotte FL 33948. It's the 5 story bldg on the 4th floor.
I would guess yes
20 feet
No a handyman will not be able to do this scope of work. Hire a roofing company or a licensed contractor.
Yes
I'm not sure I can help you. I only sell Lark sheds. Do you need a Lark shed door?
Once the permit is issued they are good for 6 months. Gget an approved inspection and that adds another 6 months. The permits aren't issued until the contractor picks them up. That's when the 6 months starts.
You would have to meet the setbacks which is 7 1/2 from the side property line & 10 ft from the back property line unless you're on the water then it's 20 ft. Sheds under 100 sq ft are 22.00 & over are 116.00.

Check your survey, and try to locate iron rods at property corners to determine if this hedge is in fact on your property and not theirs. If it is on your property, then this is a civil matter.
Yes, you do.
Yes, it is required
Your best bet would be to call the office and present your question to the lady who answers the phone so she can direct you to the correct department.
Yes. But you will still need a licensed contractor to supervise and sign off on sheathing. You will also have to coordinate the inspections as well and of course be compliant with code.
