The rooms were very clean, quiet and comfortable. I had a room on the lower level facing the Garden State Parkway but thanks to the sound proof windows I could not hear the traffic. The staff was great, especially Sebastian. The only downsides were that there is not a restaurant in the hotel, although they have a kiosk in the morning that sells coffee and light breakfast items. However, there is an ACME within walking distance and tons of great restaurants just minutes away. Try the Galloping Hill Inn in Union for an excellent hot dog! My only other downside was that they only clean the rooms and make the beds if you give them 24 hour notice that you would like your room cleaned.

Positive: The hotel was impeccably clean. The staff was excellent -- very knowledgeable, friendly and nice. My room faced the Garden State Parkway, but with the heavy duty windows I did not hear the traffic. The location is excellent, right off the Parkway. Negative: I was disappointed that the hotel did not have a restaurant, although it did have a kiosk offering breakfast items and coffee. Plus, it is right next door to an ACME so it was easy to buy snacks and groceries.

My family held an event here in January. Multiple rooms rented. No issues with the rooms. They're wheelchair accessible. Slight issue at check-in, but the staff quickly handled it as best they could. Large assortment of eateries that are close. A supermarket is within walking distance. I would go there again.

Stayed here this past weekend to attend a funeral. The rooms looked pretty similar to the photos, but the room itself is a little tight. Bed wasn't as comfortable as it could have been. Room seemed very clean. Very nice bathroom. They call themselves a boutique hotel, though I'm not sure if that's an accurate description. However, the lobby is very nice looking. The have a coffee bar with some grab and go breakfast options, but it's an extra charge. They do provide a Keurig in your room, though. They have a small fitness center that I used one of the days, which was really nice. The hallways seem a little dingy, but that could be due to the dim lighting since overall the hotel seemed very clean. I would say the best thing about this hotel is that the staff is so friendly and accommodating, and in a way that they did not make you feel like you were inconveniencing them whenever you asked something. I booked through a third party site that was not clear about the type of room I would get, and when I called the hotel to request that the room had two double beds (since it would be me and my dad staying in there), they made sure to reserve the room I wanted. They were very accommodating about a late checkout for my dad (he had a later flight than me), even though I asked somewhat last minute. They also offer a shuttle service to the airport, but it's upon request and I don't think they always run on the weekends, but they do offer a complimentary Lyft ride, so they were able to order a ride for me to the Airport at no cost to me (which Ubers to the airport in this area are around $50). Honestly, one of the best hotel experiences I've had.

How much is the subway to downtown New York City?

You'll need to take New Jersey transit (NJT) to NY Penn Station to get to the nyc subways. The Kenilworth is probably near an NJT station you can take an uber or walk to. Fares on NJT depend on distance. Check their website.
