There was no temperature control on the air conditioning unit in the room. Only fan controls. It got fairly hot in there. The room was much smaller than the pictures showed. It was pretty clean, though.

This is perhaps the most unusual hotel I've ever stayed at. It is clean and reliable but it used to be a hospital. My mom worked there when I was a kid and a lot of my friend's moms worked there too. It's also the hospital three of my four grandparents passed away in. That's just backstory. The rooms are a bit on the small side and insulation must be poor as someone was checked in next to me who proceeded to get drunk and loud. The desk was kind enough to move me but with as much occupancy as there was, the front desk clerk had no business booking another guest quite so close to me. And obviously it's haunted. All in all I would deem this establishment acceptable if it's your only choice but there are three other motels in town.

Dog Friendly. Jason, night clerk, very friendly & helpful... and there was a treat for my doggie. This was my first stay here, and I ended up staying two nights, in two different rooms. First night room had been modernized. Second night I believe the room was original. Bath had ceramic tiled walls & shower, electric wall heater --- I may be weird, but I loved this Retro-bathroom. Both rooms were clean and fresh smelling... Oh, the windows can be opened, cool (bad pun). I enjoyed the fresh air with hint of wood smoke. Cable TV, lots of channels. Internet, Continental breakfast. The lobby was decorated to the MAX for Christmas, Beautiful. Just being in West Virginia, where Christmas is celebrated and Veterans Memorial are decorated... Well It Just Made My Heart Feel Good. As my 94 year old, Elkins native, father would say, "West 'by GOD' Virginia", and I agree.

You get what you pay for here. It's dated for sure but overall clean and warm on a cold night. Bathroom reminds me of an old locker room or campground or something but it works. I imagine some of the rooms will have to get some renovations soon if they aren't already. There is a diner attached to the back of the hotel for convenient eating. Speedway and Dollar General right across the street is nice also. Good location only a few minutes from downtown. Nice spot to rest your head if you're passing through.
