Brilliant experience - our dive master was really knowledgeable and we felt safe and confident going out into the bay with him. This was our first ocean dive since qualifying and we felt like he really helped us build our skills whilst enjoying the diverse underwater life of Monterey. We did two dives and loved both, even if my partner did manage to lose his fin! We had to pay $100 to replace it but that's understandable and was detailed in the information and agreement signed before the dive so wasn't a surprise, just frustrating for us that it happened! It didn't affect our enjoyment of the experience. If we'd been in Monterey longer we would have definitely done another dive with Bamboo Reef!

I went in one of their diving tours and had a great experience. The visibility wasn't that great but Bret and Kimberly made sure that we had a fun and safe dive. The rental equipment was in good working order, the dive computer easy to read, and it was easy to get to the site and back to the shop. I'll be back for another tour.

I really don't like giving bad reviews but I want to let others know my experience with Bamboo reef. Our group of 4 rented with bamboo reef on two different days. On both occasions all of our gear had holes in various locations. Our first rental there were holes in our gloves and boots which made all of our dives uncomfortable. We noticed them prior to renting them and the shop didn't have any replacements in our sizes without holes!? Stuck between a rock and a hard place. For the second rental, my wetsuits zip was completely disconnected. We managed to temporarily reconnect it before the dive at monetary beach but it inevitably broke once we entered the water and I couldn't continue with the dive. As a result out group could only use 1/2 of the tanks we each rented. When we returned to the shop I explained my story to the associate who tried to downplay the seriousness of rental equipment with holes in it. He claimed it was to be normal. The associate didn't charge us for the second tank but continued to charge me for the wetsuit and gear rental that I didn't get to use. I have rented dive gear around the world in over ten different countries and I have never seen gear in such dire conditions.

Did a morning tour with Bamboo Reef this morning and had a blast. The temp above 20 feet was around 57 and dropped to 52 by about 30-35 feet. I was on work trip and had time to sneak in one early morning dive, and Bamboo was able to accommodate my needs and had great equipment to rent. They took care of everything and gave us an awesome guide. If you are a warm water diver like me, Bamboo can get you setup and comfortable in the "cool" waters of the Pacific, including a great overview of the San Carlos Beach area. I recommend the wall for your first dive because you can see a lot in a 50 minute dive.

They are based on the CDC guidelines and the SSI GUIDELINES

We are looking to visit monterey in september with a view to doing some diving amongst the kelp forest. We are experienced open water qualified divers. Is this sufficient qualification for this activity. Also, is there an additional cost.

Yes and unless you bring your own gear then there are additional costs such as gear rentals. The beach is free all the way to Pt. Lobos
