It's sad because it's a good location and the servers are all so nice... but holy guacamole, the food is terrible. I'm sure it's all prepackaged corporate stuff and the staff here has no control over it so I definitely don't fault them for it. I also don't remember it being so bad, but we haven't been here in over a year. It's like the company decided to cut corners and recover money they lost during covid by removing all the flavor from the food. It's all just so depressingly bland and mushy. Hopefully this chain that doesn't seem to be trying AT ALL goes out of business and a nice local place (that keeps all the super friendly staff) with tastier food and drinks goes in there instead.

Pros: - Food had good flavor - Server was attentive and kind - Wide variety of foods on the menu (no too much but not too little) Cons: - Restaurant atmosphere was dusty (needs cleaning)

Not pleased with this restaurant. We have dined here several times, but this visit was a big and expensive disappointment. My wife and I ordered what was the Monday special - half price fajitas. What the dish really was was a quarter of the amount of food, but at an premium price. First clue, no prices for this "special" were listed on the menu. My steak fajitas (small amount of unfavorable meat and very few vegetables) ended up being 13 bucks; while my wife's chicken fajitas (same issue - small quantity of food, no flavor) was 9 bucks. By far, the worst quality of food and the smallest portions I can recall at any restaurant. The drinks - $8 for a 10 oz beer. $12 for a 4 oz margarita. A lunch bill, ordering specials and Happy Hour menu items - over $60 for 3 people. Get this, my mother in-law only ordered a quesadilla and a soft drink. We enjoyed On The Border in the past, but won't be returning.

I guess I'm just not a fan of Tex-Mex and the reason I'm calling the food at OTB this is because it's certainly not authentic Mexican food. Am I the only one who's confused with their name? It kinda implies Mexico but also could mean uncertainty but it certainly doesn't live up to it. From the mass produced chips and eco-size canned salsa to the carnitas, no I take that back... Pork meat with a sweet bbq flavoring to the strange dark orange rice and refried beans (tasted like smashed Van D' Camps pork n beans). There was nothing there that was south of the border that I sampled. My critique may have been compromised from the appalling conditions of the women's bathroom. We are still in a state of COVID and hand washing is necessary for patrons and mandatory for employees for the protection and prevention to stop the spread of the virus. But this bathroom was filthy, smelly, out of toilet paper, and if black-lit would glow brighter than the Statue of Liberty's torch. I'm giving it a 1 on my scale and that's being generous. I am giving it this score only because I didn't get sick. Sorry OTB... It's time to pack your processed food bags and close your borders.

What is the basis around that question?
