I love Mountain Gate. Look forward to my visit each year at my Family gathering. Food is delicious, they do an excellent job of having buffet safe for everyone, and the staff is so friendly. They have a good selection for Vegans and they are Wheelchair accessible. Don't miss out.

Would not recommend unless you want to lose weight very quickly. I made a dinner reservation there with my family for 5:30, by the time we were all getting ready to leave around 7, the restroom was calling to me. This grown man more resembled an upside down volcano. I don't know if it was the grey liquid all of the food is sitting in or if the chicken they serve was under cooked but oh my lord, this place was a mistake. I would suggest stocking your little gift shop with pepto in the future. Secondly, a pretty ridiculous price for 6 people to eat at a limited buffet. Most regrettable $200 I have ever spent. Also be aware that they add their own gratuity to the bill, our waitress ended up making $60 as a tip which was hidden on the check and one person in our party didn't realize and gave her another $50 in cash. Personally I think it should be considered theft to not tell your customers you are charging a hidden $10 each. Will not be returning.

I can't speak for the food since I'm not that fond of it sadly but omgsh do I love the cute shop they have. Tonight my kid and I got pencil sharpeners. There were sooo many different ones lol.

Nothing special. Not much to offer for any special dietary needs, especially for diabetics. Mostly a lot of high carbs, plenty of deserts yet I have never seen any sugar free options. If you just eat off the salad bar you can be safe. …

Thank you for your interest in Mountain Gate Family Restaurant. We are following all Maryland State and Frederick County Guidelines and Mandates. The buffet is served cafeteria style so guest are not touching any serving utensil and all tables are spaced or closed to accommodate social distancing. Menus are disposed of after each use and staff go through a Health Screening before each shift. We appreciate you concern and hope that you will join us for dinner soon.

It specializes in comfort food from this area. It's very much a family restaurant and well known for its buffet. Not fancy in the least.

That rumor has been flying around the area for almost a year now. We would like to assure all of our Mountain Gate fans that this is NOT true. We have a proud tradition of providing homestyle country cooking to our guests for over 41 years and we intend to continue serving them for the foreseeable future. I'm not to sure but from what I've heard from a few waiters I know I personally won't eat there anymore haven't in about 6 months ....let's just say I heard they don't throw out certain expensive foods if dropped haven't seen this happen personally but after hearing this I won't eat there

We close at 7pm Christmas eve and remain closed on Christmas Day so that our employees may spend that time with their families. We appreciate all of our loyal guests and wish everyone a merry and blessed Christmas.

Breakfast Buffet is open from 7:00-11:00 am daily. Lunch Buffet is open from 11:00-3:30 pm Monday-Saturday. Dinner Buffet is open from 4:00-9:00 pm Monday-Saturday. Sunday our Dinner Buffet is open from 11:00 am-9:00 pm.
My 3 year old cost $1.50. my 5 year old was half price. They especially liked the ice cream at the end.
Agree with Jimmy B. We've asked for several years if they would be open for Christmas, as we always have our Thanksgiving here and would love to do Christmas dinner here as well. We've been told several times, as they are a christian oriented business that Christmas day would never happen. Which I am completely in agreement with. With our immensely fast paced consumer driven society, it seems the modern Christmas has lost its true meaning. Family, Fellowship, Joy, and Thankfulness. They only advantage would be accommodating our very large family(about 35) at once. Another option we have researched is renting a banquet hall or the likes that has kitchen access. Yes they will be open with a full Thanksgiving buffet of Turkey, Ham, Beef, pork, fried chicken, Steamed and fried shrimp. Of course mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, dressing and so much more! They have so many pies, cakes and hand dipped ice cream.
