Exactly as I expected. One thing was different on the paperwork so we left without accomplishing anything. To be fair, my mother-in-law wrote her married name on the title, which differd from her maiden name. It was not the DMV. The employees were probably the nicest DMV workers that I have ever dealt with.

I went into this DMV today excited about my name change to my DL. I made an appointment and stood for maybe 2 or 3 minutes for the dude at the appointment window to come up (darker complexion - I believe his name is Henry, at least that's what one of the other representatives stated). He asked how could he help and I told him I was there to change the name on my DL. He then asks me for a copy of my DL, but then says, "where's the marriage certificate, you're changing your name, where's the marriage certificate?" So I tell him, oh it's not my last name but my first. He then yells, "well what's wrong with your first name! You need paperwork for that! Where's the paperwork?" I had to catch myself because his behavior and unprofessional demeanor almost made me become indignant and forget who I am. Henry is by far the poorest excuse for a government worker. His unprofessionalism, uncaring, insensitive, nasty behavior is detestable. The other workers are very professional, kind and decent. People like Henry however, are who makes the experience with DMV unpleasant. He needs training on being a public servant, lessons on customer service and kindness, and supervision because he definitely lacks integrity, customer service skills, and cannot nor should he be trusted with attending the needs of the public.

If you must go to the DMV, this is the one to go too. I went to Martinsburg DMV on Monday and on Thursday and both days there wasn't anywhere to park. We had to park on the side road and then going in... uh.. nope! The line was so long u need to bring lunch n dinner. However, the ranson DMV was excellent! I was in n out in an hour and a half. That is awesome for the DMV. Go to ranson unless u have time to kill all day.

I go here every year.My opinion this is the best Department of Motor Vehicles in the state of West Virginia. The employees are courteous, properly trained, and handle the work flow very well. The older employees are training new employees, and are right there to make sure everything is running smoothly.Good job !

But call to be sure... It is such a better DVM than that in Hedgesville...
Yes, I recommend going around 7am and waiting until they open. If you do not, you will wait forever!
Go online and make an appointment. I was in and out of the DMV in less than 20 minutes
You can do this on line ... Made my life so much simpler. But you must have insurance. I am with AAA. and is your id current??
I really don't know but maybe start with the tax accessors office.
I do believe you can As long as your address is correct an with other documents
The problem is wv DMV IS HIRING. But they are not doing the outreach or incentive to attract more people. Virginia has a bill currently pending to do just that and west Virginia should follow suit. Untill than many of it services can be done online check the website for details. Also double check what u need before you go. This way it could help processing happen faster in that office
I'm guessing that the pandemic caused that to happen. Maybe when they see things calm down they may start again.
Walk in now. Went to renew tags, took maybe 20 minutes in and out. No appointment.
Appointments are made on the web site. None were available when i checked for about 2 months so i took a chance & just went. I lucked out & didnt wait long. They seem to have a certain number of slots for walkins each day.
You don't need it but, I would recommend getting one for a fast and short time. Or go early in the morning. I've waited over 3 hours going in the afternoon. Then an hour and a half going first thing in the morning.
Yes
Or you just show up, have the lady at the door add your name to the list, and wait in your car until they call you to come in.
Appointment only and a minimum of two people per appointment. So if you had to bring others with you, they will only allow you to bring in one other person inside.
Walk in is welcome however you may have to wait in line and there's no guarantee you can get in same day. At the end of day they reset the list.
Jefferson County does it in the business complex and you ride in the vehicle while the instructor watches.
They do have walk ins just a little wait
Yes they will
As long as your paperwork is in order, shouldn't be a problem.
You can go online and find out what paperwork you would need. But, remember if you go to the DMV you should make an appointment. Now with covid19
Yes, they have walk ins and appointments now.
I tried to do everything on line but nothing i did worked. I ended up getting to the dmv at 730 8 o'clock and sat there. I was the first person there and they took like 6 maybe 7 appointments before me but i was in and out. Went to the one in charles town. Hope that helps.
I believe you can mail it in. They also have a drop box up front. They are appointment only at this point on the door to the left facing the building. There is a door on the right that if they have a no show they can get you in. The door is locked and when the person comes to let appointments in they will be able to tell you what you need to do.
They do but you may not get in so you should probably make an appointment
You can come in or mail it in - whatever is easier for you.
Unfortunately not.
Not Thanksgiving. Federal holiday. Maybe black Friday. Check their website or call first thing in morning.
Yes you can. Just make sure you have everything listed. WV DMV is notorious for rejecting folks for not having the proper paperwork. Sometimes you have to go back two or three times before you get it right.
The pa title needs to be notarized on the back of it was purchased. If the pa title is already in your name, you would need a form 1, the physical title, and an odometer statement. You don't need proof of residency to title a vehicle.
West Virginia DMVs offer specialty license plates in addition to IDs that recognize veteran status.
If your current license is still valid and unexpired, you will need to bring one proof of identity, one proof of Social Security number, and two proofs of WV residency with name and address, such as utility and cable bills. Be sure that any bills you bring are addressed to you at your current address--not just forwarded from USPS. The DMV will not accept forwarded mail. If your current license is expired, you will need to bring all of this information in addition to taking all of the written, vision, and driving tests.
When tags expire, a driver has until the final day of the month to renew them.
There is no drive-thru service. You must go inside to wait to meet with a clerk for your needs. There are also options to submit certain documentation online, as well.
If you are applying for a driver's license and are considered a new applicant, you will need to provide one proof of identification, one proof of Social Security number, and two proofs of WV residency with name and physical address.
I'm not sure if you need to schedule an appointment beforehand, but at the very least testing applicants must be registered at least one hour prior to office closing time. So you definitely can just walk in, as long as you arrive early enough.
If a child is a legal citizen and a West Virginia resident, they can apply for a photo ID card. Any child between the age of 2 and 15 may apply. The only additional requirement is for a parent or guardian to sign forms. The youth ID card is then valid up to two years.
Did they put in the wrong color.? Is your license new? If it is their fault, I would think they owe you to correct it. If not, you can change it when you renew them.
Hi. I'm not a hundred percent sure but I think you need to have the title of the vehicle signed by the person that sold it to you. And your West Virginia driver's license and possibly proof of address. The best thing to do is call the DMV they would be the one to know that.
Hi PJ You will have to contact wv dmv for this information but i think you will only need is a water bill or a electric bill or exc showing your name and address and then at the DMV you will fill out a form for change of address! Hopefully this will be helpful for you!
You need the same necessary documents for when your license expires. You will need one proof of identity and two seperate proofs of WV residency, such as utility bills, in addition to the payment fee.
The handbook shows inside the lines. You can not tap a cone, however.
You will need to bring four items with you: one completed application, a driver's eligibility certificate issued by your school, proof of your social security number, and proof of identity.
Yes, this location offers driving tests for those seeking a license.
If you have had a name change, bring proof, such as divorce decree or marriage license if it's your first time getting your WV D.L.
