Very knowledgeable staff and owner, all prices are affordable I drive across town and pass like 3 other pet store specifically to
Wilford Brimley
The best pet shop in town for owners of insect eating pets. This place has all their insects like half the price of Petco/petsmart and they are visibly much healthier and properly cared for.

I love, love, love Andy's Pet Shop! My family loves Andy's. It's the place we go to for all of our food for our to guinea pig boys, Zenon and Bartholomew!

Thank you so much for all the help. This shop is a must for animal lovers. You can honestly tell how much they care for the animals. Currently they have a couple of cats up for adoption if anyone is interested. They have amazing prices and if you have reptiles they have great feeding prices.

All our pets are rescued and we do not have any dogs staying in the Pet Adoption Center. Search on petfinder.com for available dogs near you.
Call the store. They often have a lot of rescued Guinea Pig... not sure if they "want" more.
We have pelleted food for water turtles. Also, we have insects which some land turtles eat.
Depends on the breed. Go to a shelter. They will pay for first shots also suggest a good breed for your family.
Yes, they also sell rabbits as well as supplies like cages, food, etc. They do have cardboard carrying case for transportation. (Please don't give rabbits as a gift for Easter.)
We don't have any at this time. Normally, the adoption fee for one parakeet (budgerigar) is $20 and most conures are about $150. Mickaboo Companion Parrot Rescue has many birds up for adoption. Check out their website at http://mickaboo.org
There's many snakes and even a bearded dragon
YES! Although Mickaboo is very awesome, Andy's has more birds than any other rescue animal. I think that since Andy's is a local shop, their pets usually stay local, whereas Mickaboo birds may get adopted or fostered out of the area because of the organization's specialization. If you have the space and love, consider talking to both places :)
They don't sell live animals. They do sell pet supplies for reptiles.
No. They specialize in bird rescue and mainly bird, and small furry pets and pet supplies
They used to do this but I'm not sure if they still do. Worth calling in to ask. They would rather adopt to a permanent home knowing that the piggies get along before actual adoption.
Andy's Pet Shop is moving to a new location (May 2021), and is not able to have adoptable pets there due to space and other constraints. We hope to restart the Pet Adoption Center elsewhere in the coming months. Search on petfinder.com to find a pet from a local shelter or non-profit pet rescue. For nearly all pets, we recommend getting a young adult, or older pet, not juveniles; for many reasons.
Yes
They got mice rats and ALL kinds of animals
No
We have no parakeets or parrots of any kind. One local bird rescue has over 900 birds for adoption. Please check out their website: https://mickaboo.org/ where you can see the birds for adoption, get more information on the adoption process, and get recommendations for how to care for a companion bird. We do have cages, toys, food, perches, etc. for companion birds
They only do adoptions. Only if someone surrendered their animal will they have it. I didn't see any rabbits they last time I was there. However there is an organization they work with called Rabbit Haven out of Santa Cruz that does adopt out rabbits. You should check out their website. They show all available animals. I think the adoption cost is around $40/animal. We adopted or guinea pigs from them and they are great!
A typical adoption fee is about $60 for a pair. Age and other factors may increase or reduce the fee. All of the pets here are from shelters, strays, owner surrendered or from animal rescue group. Purchasing an adequate cage with all supplies needed runs about $150 to $250 dollars. You can see the pigs between 11 am and 6 pm, and pick up a copy of our basic care sheet with additional references.
Call them😊 They trim bird nails, the price for it is on their bulletin board at the parking lot entrance. They are happy to take calls.
We do not have any dogs. Pet stores in California are not allowed to sell dogs. Search on petfinder.com dogs available near you.
Usually they have cats for adoption
No.
Yesterday when I went in there was a pregnant female. She was about to deliver. They might have some babies now if you call them. Don't know how many or the gender though.
They do sell pet supplies; bird, fish, cats, and other supplies, just bought koi food the other day. I can't confirm there are actually fish, I haven't gone to the back of the store lately.
Check out Highlighter Chameleon in Freemont. They have the best reptiles in the Bay Area
Quick and easy. Not sure what hamsters cost but probably around $15. Usually they ask for an ID and a picture of your cage setup (unless you buy one there I'd imagine) and last you just need to fill out some super basic info and sign the adoption form.
We do not. Sugar gliders are illegal in California.
I haven't had anything but a great experience there. If you don't want to hear birds don't go where they are up for adoption. You can't force birds to be quiet. Admittedly I haven't tried recording in the shop but I have used my phone in there and seen many others as well and have never gotten any comments about it.
You are welcome to take photos or video of the pets. Just please don't use flash unless given specific permission.
They didnt have any when I was there. I would suggest giving them a calll.
They do not have sugar gliders. California is one of 5 states where it is illegal to sell sugar gliders as pets. They have great Guinea Pigs and Rats that need homes
You can try, though Andy's generally works with local rescues to feature certain pets in the store. As SweetP said... give them a call - they should at least be able to give you other local resources, if nothing else.
Yes they do
You will have to buy. They dont give them away.
I don't have any idea about the price they do have baby bunny
Just money.....and a good home
No Dogs, no Cats if rabbits.
They don't "carry" any specific type of pet... just whatever they may get from local rescues. That includes reptiles, bunnies, Guinea pigs, rats, chinchilla, pigeon, finches, cats and a few others (except, no dogs). They're more of a pet supply store, with a few rescue animals available, which change up regularly.
Yes but not a great selection
The reptiles they have are rescues. I'd suggest going in and taking a look or calling the location to see.
they will most defiantly direct you to someone/organization in need.
You should generally find a local vet for your animal care needs... a pet shop, even as fantastic as Andy's, isn't the first place you should look (though they will likely have recommendations for reputable vets for your animal care needs)
Andy's doesn't "sell pets," despite being a pet store. Their pets are from local rescues. Generally they have a large number of caged pets... particularly rats, guinea pigs, hamsters and turtles. Generally they have a few reptiles, as well, which may or may not be available for adoption.
You would have to call or go in. They have different toads, turtles, lizards and other stuff all the time. They even had baby chameleons last time I was in there!
Yes, we have all sizes of frozen feeders.
Occasionally they do have Crested Geckos, yes. Give them a call to find out. Their animals are all rescues, so the types they get change often.
Asking questions that would obviously be better answer by calling the store directly
Sometimes we have lots of pet rats and sometimes only a few. Call or come by the store to find out.
Not sure. I do know they have a good reptile section for San Jose. Give them a call, they do answer.
Yes, please call the store for prices and availability.
Dr. Rusher's Clinic comes to Andy's on the 3rd Saturday of every month as of March 2018. Check the clinic webpage to confirm dates and times and to get prices. https://www.paws4sjacs.org/vaccine
At this moment, we do not have any mice.
If you mean, can you surrender a pet to us, that we will adopt to someone else, the answer is "maybe". It depends on species, their health, and available space in the adoption center. It is best to call first or visit the store. If you mean donate "pet supplies", the answer is yes.
The Adoption Center is sometimes able to accept pets for rehoming. Please call or visit the store to get more information.
The tallest crate we have is 33" high. The full dimensions are 48" long x 30" wide x 33" high. It folds down to 48x30x3. It is NOT airline approved. The price varies from $125 to $150 (the higher priced one is sturdier). We have both in stock.
Andy's does not sell puppies. They do, however, hold adoption weekends with local shelters, namely the West Coast Boxer Rescue (who has more than just Boxers!!)! Give them a call for the next scheduled adoption event :)
Because iguanas get very large and are often difficult to handle, Andy's Adoption Center rarely accepts them. Andy's does usually have Bearded Dragons, leopard geckos, sometimes other geckos or chameleons. All pets are from shelters or surrendered by owner who can no longer care for them.
The many times I have visited I have not seen puppies.
Occassionally they host an adoption weekend for West Coast Boxer Rescue, but otherwise Andy's is a small pet + supply store :)
yes, they had a colony going the last time I checked :-)
Yes, we also have dubia roaches, hornworms, crickets, and sometimes flightless fruitflies.
Yes, we take a blood sample and send it to the lab. The cost is $50 and you'll need to schedule with us. The price drops to $40 if you get a wing or nail trim done at the same time. A wing and nail trim is $15 or $10 for just wing trim or just nail trim.
They dont, but they have vaccine clinics on certain weekends
They have rescues with dogs so it always varries by the rescue that comes in.
I hope you make a huge area surrounded by a fence outside where they can play, chill, or eat / drink
Yea that , but I am asking about the price not that.
As I recall prices are not marked.
I have found that prices are good on all animals and products here, which I'm sure will apply to their parrots. They even sold me a broken but fixable cage at discount that they took from the back room because I was tight on money.
Id imagine this changes too often to be useful
That's like giving a kid up for adoption because it wets the bed. Do some research and try to figure out why she is doing it and tactics to prevent her from continuing to pee there. I would get a new couch because your cat will keep peeing where she smells her urine. Use a spray bottle of water if you catch her in the act.
They mostly sell rescue cats and I don't remember seeing dogs, but they might. They exclusively sell animals from shelters, including guineas and hamsters.
