This office is closed, we tried calling a few days prior and the phone was disconnected, apparently the office has been closed since January of 2019 when the FBI came in and arrested everyone in the office for fraud, stealing passports and reselling them, we came today Monday Jan 13th 2020 and found all this out. The only other consulate is Washington DC, I heard you can file a complaint through your local city hall on your passport issues but I am not 100% on that. Best of luck but don’t try to come to SF consulate bc it is PERMANENTLY CLOSED!!!!

La persona que nos ayudó era irrespetuosa con nosotras..solo no supo decir que no sabe y que nosotros perdimos el tiempo en venir hasta el Consulado hasta nos faltó el respeto y nos trató feo..Nunca nos an tratado como ella nos trató, nosotros no somos de Venezuela y fuimos a obtener más información sobre nuestros visas para viajar pero la señora no nos ayudó ni siquiera trató de ayudar nos...nuestra experiencia en Consulado de Venezuela era horrible. My family and I went to the consult and were treated bad, the person who was supposedly helping us was very disrespectful, she was not helpful and did nothing to help us at all, all she did was be rude and give us an "I don't know" answer for everything, she disrespected us and refused to help us, we went to get more information about a Visa that was submitted and she told us we wasted our time in coming to the consult we drove from LA to San Francisco to be treated with disrespect and told that we wasted our time in even going there. She didn't even know what the requirements for a visa was, the consult needs to send her to take communication classes so she know how to speak to people and to also get a brief lesson on the services that the consult offers because she knew nothing at all. She was basically clueless ..Our overall experience at the consult was horrible.

The consulate is closed !!!! I went there November 15th 2016 for my passport renewal appointment. There is a sign that says the Consulate is closed until further notice. Terrible news for us Venezuelans in the region trying to renew the passport to go see our families back in Venezuela .. Update, I sent an email to the Consulate and I received an auto-reply message stating that the office is going to be closed until December 01 ,and that they are going to reschedule the appointments beginning January 2017

Friend, they are not issuing passports. Thats the reality. If you have an expired passport, ask for the extension, it is the only thing you can have for now.
Remember that it is by area of residence and you touch at the New York consulate
From certain countries you will need a visa but not from others like Mexico, based on your country passport.

I know someone who did it in Venezuela. And they sent the stamp to the Houston consulate. However, I like it better in San Fco. Consul Tibisay answers by email. And they are very diligent.
