It took almost four weeks from the time of the appraisal to receive the report back. The entire time the bank was requesting updates they were receiving the same generic response that "their request has been received and status updates will come when available". Eventually they said we would have the report the next day; we didn't actually get it until a few days after that. Once we had the report, there were things that were outright incorrect; all appliances worked, carbon monoxide detectors were present, etc. (all wrong). Did not even note the broken windows or the fact that the heat was not working in two rooms during December. I understand this was an appraisal and not an inspection, but these things are blatantly obvious. For almost $900 I would expect a more accurate appraisal.

Not an appraiser I would ever deal with again.

I want to try to be fair and admit that I may have been short with Kalya which I apologized for and she could tell I was not happy but the service was so unbelievably bad I am writing my first ever Google review. I have been waiting 5 weeks to get a call from an appraiser which I need to begin a basement remodel. I received an email from my bank on a Friday that an appraiser had told them I setup an appointment for 10:15 on Monday. I explained to my bank that I hadn't heard from any appraisers. When I left work around 5:15 p.m. on Friday I saw I had a missed called at 2:30 from a number I didnt' know. When I called I got a person named Kayla who might not represent the entire company but she has the authority to turn down business. I told Kayla that 10:15 on Monday wouldn't work because my wife and I both have full time jobs and it was too short notice and I was hoping she could set the appointment up for a Wednesday. She quickly interrupted me and told me that they only come to my area once a week and it would be the following. At that point I agreed to the following Monday but aired my frustration at how long we have waited for an appraisal (5 Weeks). Kayla response was defensive and quick to say that I have not waited 5 weeks. I apologized and explained it wasn't her fault and that my bank has been looking for an appraiser that long. It was at this point that the conversation went down hill and Kayla made the comment that she is giving me several days notice...... (I don't know about everyone else but most people I know with jobs know that they don't tell their an employer on Friday night that they need off Monday morning). I was frustrated at her response and explained that a Weekend is not the same as several days notice. I also asked Kayla if my Bank had just contacted her on Friday as that would explain the short notice. I genuinely wanted to know. (Apparently my bank had contacted her several days prior to this and I can tell from other reviews this is a problem others have had with Obrist). Kayla's response was to cancel my following week Monday appointment and tell me that they don't want my business. Her exact words were that in their experience they don't want to work with people like me. (If that meant people that were having a rough day or people that expect more than a Weekend notice then I guess she is right). Her final words were that they don't need my business. I am still without an appraiser and I am not asking for anything other than an honest appraisal from someone that is willing to schedule an appointment and be on time. (I am not going to second guess your appraisal. I am not the professional in that industry). What I am a professional in is customer service and dealing with difficult people. I can tell you that if Kayla is a representation of O'Brist then she is right they don't need my business because they won't last very long.

Questions & Answers

It's been 6 weeks and I've ask several times for it and no reply, is their a time limit or a law on it to have in a timely manner, if so what would that be. And if a bank is withholding it. A banker has told me a week ago they don't know who has it.
