I was told a lock would be in the unit. I arrived and there was no lock. I called the office and left a message, it was after hours, and received no call back. The next day I went back with a lock of my own and someone from a nearby unit had their stuff in my unit. The entire place is dirty and smells bad. I am pretty sure people are living in some of the units. I am very unimpressed so far.

Staff is friendly, I chose a climate control unit, upstairs. Building is fairly clean. My reason for 3stars is. I rented two units, each one month apart. First unit I gave in and got the $2000 coverage insurance since most my household stuff that I care about is going to be stored in for about a year. Second unit I got last minute since we are moving and needed to store some extra furniture for a couple of days/weeks. Gentlemen that did my second rental tried to sell me $3000 insurance at $21.xx a month extra. I had cleared stated I wanted the minimum, not what I had but the minimum. He have me $2000 coverage same as my other unit. I was tight on time so I paid. This however rubbed me the wrong way. If I am paying for a service, you explained the risks and I still tell you what I want, but you go ahead and do what YOU THINK is best its a no from me. Also make sure you bring your own cart/dollies. They state they have some but I have gone on different hours of the day and one can never be found!

Usually when you sign any documents you are given a copy of those documents. The reason this is done is to protect both parties. We know that when we have paperwork in most circumstances we just want to get this process overwith so we sign without reading anything. It is the responsibility of person giving you the document to sign to make sure it is read and understood before you sign the document and give you a copy for your records. If it's not done this way then they are hiding something from you and from experience the Stanton Extra Space Storage doesn't do this is so the can make up reasons to get rid of unwanted customers.
