Secluded campground with no cell coverage, vault toilets and no water. Recommend sites along the creek. Natural playground for the kids -- bring sand toys and fishing poles.

Update: still perfect out there. Went in May and found the creek stocked with trout!! An absolutely gorgeous campground hidden in the mountains of nowhere lies this little gem. Been coming here for years and I must say the newer improvements such as a camp host has made all the difference. Respectful quiet hours are now implemented 10pm- 6am. The bathrooms are maintained and cleanly. Resources and local information is abundant with the host. Additionally the camp hasn't changed over the past 15 years. Plenty of water in the creek for fish to live. Clean water runs continuously. Reserved spots are not available. (Although i was lucky enough to snag one that was open mid-week.) The hiking trails are a true test to experience level, inviting all levels of expertise. Minimal rock climbing potential. All in all a wonderful trip complete with "rental dogs" from Camp Sheideck's residence who have the kindest and friendliest of pups who came to visit for treats. Highly recommend. Best kept secret of the area. Just be sure to anticipate the heat and be prepared to need chase in the day and heaters for the night. This location gets extremely temperature variations.

4 day, 3 night solo camping trip in my pop up camper, with my dog on April 2, 2021. $10 a night with my America the Beautiful pass. Great campground out and away from everyone. You'll be about 40 minutes away from any store, so pack everything you're going to need for your time there, or expect to spend two hours for any trip you need to take. There is no water or electricity at the sites, however, there is a creek that runs along the campground and I filled up all the water I needed from this creek, and yes, I treated the water before I used it. The hosts we're really cool and always around for anything you need them for. They keep the campground very clean and they sell firewood there, $10 - $15 per bundle. It was fully booked the weekend I went but I was fortunate enough to get a first come site, and it was a large site, with a nice shady area to site and had a nice view of the surrounding mountain. Not the best place for hiking, but I was limited to where I could go, since I brought my 110 lb bulldog with me, and he's good for about 2 miles max. I'm sure there are more trails to explore. If you are interested in joining in any hikes, you can find my hikes on the "Meet Up" app under the group "Five Miles or More Hiking Group" with the times and places I'll be going. Enjoy your hiking.

This is my all-time favorite place to camp! It's also a doggie paradise; be prepared for local dogs to occasionally wander up and say hi! The campsite is as remote as you can get for car camping. It's like 20 miles away from anything...except for the bar & grille (and cluster of cabins) about 1/4 mile from the camp's entrance! You can get ice there, as well as great food and drink (and, hopefully, a head's up if a wildfire breaks out in the area!). The bar generally caters to bikers and other people who would prefer to party 20 miles away from civilization...but I grew up around bikers, so I don't have any kind of problem with this. They were all super nice, and half of the people there had dogs to greet mine. I camped there over Halloween, and while there was a bash going on at the bar, we couldn't hear anything at all at our campsite, other than the creek. Site 17 is my favorite; it's far back, yet close to a toilet, and close to the creek. There is a site closer to the creek, but this site seems bigger...and I've had bobcats come through my site when camping by other creeks, so I prefer the extra space, haha. I hope to camp here at least once a year!

My cost was $10 to camp but that was with my America The Beautiful pass, so maybe I wasn't charged for my car.

Sites are generally $20 and up at Reyes Creek. If you chat up the hosts (at least the ones there in Dec 18) about being "local," they might cut you a deal. They're super cool! Or not. You never know until you ask...you never, never know!
