I've been a customer of Chester Bagel (known affectionately to many locals as "Chagel") for around 15 years. They still have the best bagel recipe in the area by far. Their bagels taste just as a bagel should taste, and as so few actually do. So it pains me to give them just a three-star review, but they seem to be slipping on the quality of the actual bagels. The shape of hand-rolled bagels will vary for sure, but way too many of the bagels I get here lately are too small, squashed, too thin and strung out, or far too thick and round in the middle. The store in Flanders has an inferior recipe (to my taste) but they seem to do a much better job of making bagels that slice, toast and eat like bagels. Not bad, but nothing extraordinary with my bagel sandwich. Didn’t realize they were CASH only, which to me is ridiculous in 2022. No one carries cash anymore. If you really need to use a card, you can place pick-up orders via GrubHub.

Food looked good but what place only takes cash…. Wasn’t able to get my food the ATM in store wasn’t working and charges a fee. To survive in today’s world accepting cards is the standard. The 1 star isn’t because of the food or staff both seemed great it’s the fact I couldn’t get the food. The only signage I saw for cash only was at the register after I placed my order…
