Amazing place with valuable antique collection and very well organized introduction. Visited with my children, they enjoyed everything in there. Is is really very touching that not only entrance is free, but also they give you freedom to go around to explore and enjoy everything. ( nothing to campers with Hearst Castle visit). The architecture is beautiful, tasteful decor and you are free to organize your special day photo shopping. Greatest place to visit. P.S. You need to “book” your spot in advance online, make sure to include everyone ( even infants), and yes it’s free, you only pay $15 parking fee online or in the place. Parking is very safe and well organized, elevators are in every level.

Definitely worth the visit. So beautiful and peaceful. The gardens, the architecture, the sculptures, artifacts and staff were all wonderful. I highly recommend the free tours, you'll learn a lot and understand more about what you're viewing. It's free to visit but the parking is pricey. If you are near the Santa Monica Pier, LA Metro can get you there easily and cheap. They have free lockable chargers for your phone (including the cords) which I found easy to use. Bring your phone and headphones for a nice audio tour.

A one of a kind, must see it to believe it place! Among the grandest and most opulent destinations to visit and revisit in Southern California! The grounds and structures are visually magnificent to be able to pass thru and see. Viewing the ancient artifacts on display was an unexpected and exciting exploration I’ll always remember! As with the Getty Center, I’d say the Getty Villa is a treasure trove of exhibits and information in an awesome place of eye pleasing aesthetics! I could go on and elaborate on the elaborate, tho after reading the good reviews of others, I couldn’t have said it better! Photos posted with this review are just a glimpse of the vivid appeal that captures my experience, to see as I’ve seen, tho so much better in person! Just a note of interest for visitors heading there via Pacific Coast Highway from Santa Monica and Pacific Palisades. When going northbound, look to pass the Sunset Blvd intersection, with a Chevron Station on the right and Gladstones Restaurant on the ocean side, or left. Continue under the pedestrian bridge and past the next traffic light at Porto Marina Way, then be ready to look for the turning lane to turn right at Getty Villa Drive, to check in at the entrance gate. Walk-ins may arrive via the Metro-Transit Bus 534, or from vehicle drop offs and may also check in at the entrance. All arrivals will be asked for their reservations along with prepaid parking passes if needed. Otherwise alternate arrangements may be made before proceeding. All vehicle traffic departs at Coastline Drive, back to Pacific Coast Highway.

This place is just amazing. Gorgeous in all honesty. I hope to visit again soon. I was amazed with the entire art/artifacts. The garden is stunning. I 100% recommend everyone to come here. If you're on a tight budget you can bring your own food and drinks (read the fine print on what is allowed). I recommend tours for your first time. You get more of an idea behind the artifacts. This is also a great first date place. I saw a few people taking wedding photos here. So that's another little idea. I did my best to not take too many pictures and to focus more on everything surrounding me, because it was all amazing to me personally. I noticed more people taking pictures than experiencing the beauty in this place. To each there own. Again just come visit yourself for the amazing experience.

Take as many pictures as you like! Just no flash. I was told to imagine you are visiting a very rich friend's house in Rome
Better to reserve ticker for each person visiting Getty Villa. Parking need to be paid for each car. $15. But if you are visiting Getty Center in the same day you can collect the free parking permit from Getty Villa and use it in Getty Center and Getty Center parking will become free.
I take about 3-3.5 hours each time. Give yourself time to sit in the gardens and revisit some of the artwork.
There are free garden and architecture tours lasting about 45 minutes. Also free tours of the museum collection. Visitor services can help you as you enter the Villa
Yes! There's plenty of benches and other areas to eat outdoors.
Yes they will
Hello Geraldine, Yes, we do have both a restaurant and a coffee cart. Please click the link below: http://www.getty.edu/visit/villa/eat.html Have a great visit!
Yes! You have to make a reservation ahead of time as well as pay for parking
They allow photography just no flash in the galleries...
Yes, you need to make a reservation. Admission is free but you book the time you want to enter.
Exactly one week to the day from the next week
Yes, you need a reserved ticket to visit the grounds
No. The pool is not for public use, just for pictures.
Yes as long as they don't touch anything
Easy access, there are elevators and ramps, and handicap parking.
Admission is free, but, parking is $20. And you have to park to see anything. Nothing is viewable from your car.
Tickets are free, you just need to go to that place and register. You pay only $ 20 for parking.
It’s a museum.
Write your resv# down both on your phone and on a handy pocket notepad for quick reference in case of poor wifi.
This is a disrespectful and ridiculous question. If your children are well mannered and controlled then of course a world class art museum is "good for them". By the way, I can't think of a single art museum in Los Angeles that could be described as "a dump".
Parking for 1 car for Patricia Storm on Sun., Jan 28th at noon
Yes the admission is free, but you have to pay for parking. You can make a reservation at tickets.Getty.edu
The Villa is high on a bluff, well above the estimated 10 foot sea rise caused by global warming. While the coastal highway may be underwater, you can still access the beautiful building by roads to the east.
Use the website...you pay and reserve ur visit there..a calendar will tell u available dates..make sure you're making ur reservation for the GETTY VILLA
Thanks to all your quick response. Keeping my fingers crossed 😃
Last month they didn't require vaccine ID, but wearing a mask is required inside.
They should allow it as long as it is a registered service animal
It has an coffee shop with tables inside and I dont recall seeing a sign that says you cant but this is an museum so you should assume that you cant. Also they search your bags upon entry so you cant sneak anything in.
Thank you. This is not good news for me at all, since Museums are my favorite pass time. RZED
Since the 60s
There are some studio experiences which you have to check for on the website: www.getty.edu
No
3 hours. Though it might be free, need to get tickets ahead of time before going there. Parking is $20.
Not sure, but most museums require an special permit to take photographs with a tripod. The issue boils down to image reproduction and the copyrights owned by a museum. I would assume the Getty is not any different, so contact the museum and state the purpose of your photographs. They might waive any fees.
Yes, an uber etc. can drop you off and turn out again just inside of the entrance drive off the PCH (hwy 1). You'll still need a timed entry ticket (free on line) for that date - can't pass the gate without it if they're fully booked.
No, and they do check all bags on enterance, so if you bring your luggage they might ask you to open it for inspection. If you are in a car l, best bet is to leave the luggage in the vehicle. The parking lot is pretty secure.
You need to make a reservation online for parking
Just adults
I've been there twice and I've never seen it done like that. There are a lot of people taking pictures and you can't stay too long in front of the works. I believe that security men would not allow it.
From a few dollars up to over a hundred depending on the item. There are some art pieces.
Entry is free but you have to get tickets online in advance. Parking is 15 or 20 dollars.
You will not be able to enter before your appointment time.
Admission is Free but need to RESERVE your parking AHEAD of time. $15 parking fee credit or cash.
No Pets other than service animal for the blind. http://www.getty.edu/visit/villa/plan/faqs.html
Yes, you can as long as: 1) you do not use flash or additional lights 2) you are not doing a video shoot for modeling, wedding, etc. 3) you do not bring a tripod, microphone, or other accessories
Yes
Actually, it is located in Pacific Palisades, but it is close to Malibu.
You park on property. Most have parking ticket. Get this online. Parking structure
Go online, where you got your appointment in the first place. Check your email.
Nope
If you have water you get provided with a nice bag to put the water in
The entrance is free but parking is $15.00. Although entrance is free you need to reserved tickets on line thru their website.
You must reserve parking. They do take credit cards.
Coming by car from the North (Malibu), you'll need to make a U-turn to get to the Villa. In LA traffic, this can be time consuming. I recommend visiting on a day when you'd approach from the South (LA).
It is quite a walk so depends on mobility level
Free admission, parking is $ 15.00 but you have to reserve online and show your eticket when you enter the parking.
However you get to the Getty, you always need a ticket. The tickets are free online, but not optional.
Gladstones, good fish. right on the beach. You can get a table right above the waters edge
You can't park at my place (we only have two spots) and even if you could I wouldn't recommend it as it's about 30 minutes away in decent traffic. ;-) In all seriousness though: Park on-site for $15 as admission is free and you're paying to support the museum. (Edited for grammar / punctuation.)
