I was a patient years ago, and he told me I had many cavities, plus needed some treatment for my gums. I asked another dentist who told me my teeth were fine. I'm posting this review now because the same thing just happened to a friend of mine. Don't go there.

I feel very lucky I found Dr. Chua. He is a very compassionate and professional dentist. When I came in for my fillings, it was the most painless and easy-going experience I have had with a dentist so far. I liked the equipment he used to get the job done and he checked in with me every step of the way. I also appreciate his conservative approach to dental care and hearing out my concerns. I walked away feeling at ease and recommended him to my family members. I am typically afraid/nervous to see a dentist but thanks to Dr. Chua, I look forward to my future appointments. Highly recommend!

Wonderful experience! Central, easily accessible location in the Mission district and you’re supporting a family business. Dr. Chua is extremely knowledgeable and careful. I went in for a cleaning and got fillings done by him which were a completely painless and quick procedure. Highly recommend.

My teeth are precious to me (though I should have taken better care of them through life). I've been seeking a dentist who is exceptionally knowledgeable, skilled and trust-worthy. Knowing this, a friend referred me to Dr. Chua. I met with him this week and was impressed by his genuine care and treatment, and by the technology that he used to show a clear picture of my teeth and areas that need attention. He created a treatment plan and went the extra mile to ensure that I understood and felt comfortable with the plan. I mean, seriously. He is amazing. I called today with some concerns, since getting actual dental treatment in my adult life is new to me, and he invested time to ensure I understood any details I hoped for clarity on and felt comfortable with the plan. His level of skill and care raises the bar!!

Questions & Answers

I get this sharp pain sensitivity when eating or drinking cold stuff. Is it normal?

If you grind your teeth, you tend to get this abfraction at the neck of your teeth on the gum line and the notch is because you've lost enamel. Dentin and root surface is now exposed and causes sensitivity. If it lingers or causes pain spontaneously, you need to see a dentist.

My gums bleed after brushing. Should I be concerned about the red blood that I spit out rinsing?

That's the first sign of gingivitis and possibly periodontitist, infection of the gums. Sometimes its reversable if you keep up with your oral hygiene routine ( Brush 2+ mins 2x and floss per day) . If it's prolonged more than 2 weeks, I would see a dentist to prevent bone loss and gum recession.
