I had an experience about a month ago at the Taqueria in La Plaza. I ordered my food which was (1) Quesabirria with (1) Consome. I went inside shopping quickly in the meantime they were working on the order. I went 15 minutes after asked for my food and the cashier was clueless. I waited some more and I asked and again the cashier again did not respond and ignored me. Now the order took 35 minutes. The final time I asked the cashier about my order she only gave me a Quesabirria and no Consome. At this time the cashier left and the cook a woman said I messed it up because I asked for one thing and not Consome. The audacity. I went inside to look for the manager and I complained. I complained about my order and the poor service from these two ladies. NO ONE APOLOGIZED!!! That was my last visit to La Plaza. STAFF NEEEDS CUSTOMER SERVICE TRAINING!!

Amongst the Mexican/Latin markets in the Peninsula, we have found this to be one of the best for both fresh produce and tacos. Fresh chickpeas, tomatillos, nopal pads, white onions, peppers, purple field corn for making fresh masa, they have it. As always, use common sense and judgement when selecting your purchases. Order at the taqueria and pick up groceries, and your food will be ready by the time you are done. It's a solid go-to for a quick weekday lunch, when you are busy working and don't feel like cooking. On Friday afternoons we have seen them smoking chicken outside and have tried them a couple of times. They look great, but taste a bit like chicken ham, due to high salt content. We think they brine them. Good to know for the tacos: Go early for chorizo, they sell out if you go too late in the afternoon. The tacos lack consistency in amount and freshness level, but generally the pollo asado is a safe bet. Sometimes it does have a bit of warmed over flavor, or tastes like their leftover rotisserie chicken heated up. We have needed between 3-7 tacos per person for lunch. (We only eat one of the two corn tortillas they give you per taco, if you eat the two tortillas per taco, you probably need less.) Depending on who is assembling that day, you may get more or less meat, and fixings (onion cilantro radish salsa). We just order a couple extra tacos to make sure we have enough. We think the flavor of Al pastor is spot on. However you get lots of pure fat. See pic for two Al pastor tacos, and the amount of visible pure fat that was picked out (some got spit out in a napkin, so it's not even all of it) So if you really want some, order double the amount, so you can still have meat after removing the huge fat and gristle chunks. Also don't recommend Tuesdays when they are a dollar, you get even less meat than usual. Really wish they would fix this problem, we have tried complaining (in fluent Spanish) but it's met with an 'oh well'. Carne asada sometimes has gristle but some days is good. Carnitas have a piggy odor and flavor so we avoid these.

Some of the best tacos and burritos in the area. I love the Al Pastor and the carnitas is fantastic. The best part? The employees are always so nice and happy that it is a delight to stop by for some food. I’ve never had a bad experience here and the food is amazing. IMPORTANT TIP: The hours on the food window is that it closes at 8pm. The store closes at 9:30, so it can be misleading in the hours section.
