I was having some shoulder pain and went to see Dr. Chen. He had great online reviews and I wasn’t disappointed. I never felt rushed and left knowing what the problem was. We had a clear treatment plan. I’m feeling better already and wouldn’t hesitate recommending him to friends and family for sports medicine injuries.

This is an excellent orthopedic practice from top down. Dr. Chen is knowledgeable and thorough in his diagnosis. The associated Physical Therapy group is also excellent. I have used the PT group on three separate occasions with good success. I am able to continue to garden and golf on a regular basis and at my age, thankful that I did not have to have a big surgery. What you will most enjoy about this group is that everyone is friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and PERSONAL, a quality sorely lacking everywhere I go. I highly recommend Dr. Chen for your orthopedic issues.

Trying to not put on the dreaded "Covid" pounds I dusted off my road bike and started riding for the first time in a few years(I'm not going to admit how many) I have been an athlete my entire life but I did cross into my 60's a few years ago and seem to still believe I can perform like I'm 22. Well, I crashed and burned and in the process injured my shoulder. Because I've always been a good healer I waited for my shoulder to get better..a month and a half later I reached out to Dr. Stephen Chen on a referral from a friend. I am ever so glad I did! Dr. Chen created a program of recovery and strengthening. He explained the time it may take to heal because of the injury and walked me through from Xrays to MRI's to Physical Therapy how we were going to get my shoulder functioning normally. Dr. Chen listens patiently is incredibly knowledgeable and most importantly achieves results. I am so close to having full mobility of my shoulder! I may not be back on my road bike yet but I am incredibly grateful to Dr. Chen for getting me back on track and confident I will soon! Thank you Dr. Chen!

Very excited that I got the chance to sit down with Dr. Chen and learn more about his philosophy on patient care. As a former pediatrician, he can relate to kids and kid's injuries in a very caring, informative and respectful manner. Combining his experience with sports medicine, and the ability to spend the time necessary to actually listen to his patients, Dr. Chen can help all varieties of sports injuries, and it helps that his office takes most PPO insurance plans as well.

A primary care sports medicine physician has advanced training in the science of sports medicine. The training is extensive and includes 4 years of medical school, 3 to 4 years of residency, and 1 to 2 years of fellowship training. They are required to pass a certification exam in sports medicine in order to receive a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine (CAQSM) with recertification every 10 years. Dr. Stephen S. Chen, MD | Sep 2, 2021

A primary care sports medicine physician specializes in the nonsurgical treatment of musculoskeletal, orthopedic and sports medicine injuries and conditions, whereas an orthopedic surgeon is trained in the operative treatment of those same conditions. However, approximately 90% of all sports injuries are non-surgical. A sports medicine physician is an expert in the bio mechanics of the body and has specialized training in both the treatment and prevention of injury. I can help patients determine whether their condition requires surgery or can be managed by other types of treatment.
