2 stars for the deli food, chicken stripes to be exact in my opinion are terrible they are not fresh but frozen precooked. No thank you.

Checked out at 10:09pm on 6/12/22. Justin didn't greet me, and gave me attitude when I asked him not to put freezer aisle items that are icy and wet in the bag with items that come in cardboard boxes, because the wet items cause the cardboard to get wet. That's why I grouped all the dry items together and the freezer items together on the conveyor belt. He said "ok" curtly and picked up the bag with dry items and set it down loudly on the front conveyor belt. Then continued bagging. He didn't say anything else until saying "there you go" upon handing me my receipt. He didn't exhibit any customer service beyond the bare minimum of scanning the items and giving me my receipt. I didn't have that large of a purchase, only 19 items, so i don't know what his problem was. If you can't be personable at all hours of your shift, get out of the grocery business or open up the self checkout, which talks to the customer more than Justin did. I wish you all still had the online surveys, cuz I would give Justin a 1 so my review was brought up in front of his peers at the next pre shift meeting.

3/30/22 21:39 clerk: Sam Courtesy clerk wandered around doing everything she could to avoid bagging groceries. Ended up just standing around. Sam the clerk didn't ask for her help with bagging a large order in front of me. Especially since the customer brought their own bags which takes longer to bag. I had 1 item. The store is open till 1am there's no excuse to not have more than one clerk at 930pm and/or not having the courtesy clerk doing their job. Cleaning tasks can wait when there's a line of customers. Whatever happened to "3's a crowd"? Safeway no longer has a survey site, otherwise I'd give them a 1/10 to get their attention that they can't have people standing around when there's customers to help.

This was a postpandemic trip to celebrate my 20 year old granddaughter's ongoing recovery from severe brain trauma. It was a perfect place to get away and enjoy the beach. The Grey Gull has been our "go to place" for 30 years. We just got home and are already looking forward to our next trip.
