Worth the drive, even if it’s 2 hours! I had a bass that I had already taken to another luthier that I had all but given up on- tight action, dead sound, hard to play, no sustain. Brought it to these guys and one week later it’s a new instrument. They did a fingerboard dressing and bridge rework, and the difference is astonishing. Really they are the best around, and you shouldn’t compromise on who is working on your instruments. Can’t recommend them enough.

This is the place folks. Great set-ups, excellent repair work, nice people, and a lot of basses. I have been a client since the Bass Violin Shop opened. I have had a lot of work on my basses done there and it is always top notch. Bass players around here used to drive to NYC or Cincinnati to get our work done. Now we drive to Greensboro and Bass players from all over come to the BVS. Did I mention the bass set-ups? The best. Butter. Lots of great basses for sale. Strings, pick-ups, bows etc.. A great Bass Shop.

Recently sold my double bass on consignment through the "Bass Violin Shop" in Greensboro, NC. Bob and Cody were very knowledgeable and professional in assessing and pricing the bass. Marketing of the bass was beautifully done. Updates and communications about pricing adjustments and sale of the bass was prompt and utterly professional. The bass sold to, I trust, a happy owner and the whole experience was hopefully a win - win - win for all. Great people!

They let us try out different sizes of double basses. He showed so many things about the bass. He was patient and let us explore on our own for a bit. They repair, sell, and rent bass violins. While there, we even got a mini concert of other more prolific players who were also trying out different basses.

The bull fiddle, the double bass, and the string bass!
We are requiring all employees and customers to wear masks while in the shop, we are limiting the number of customers to four at one time, and we are regularly sanitizing instruments and surfaces! Hope this helps!
No, basses are more expensive than that.
