This is a beautiful and recently updated facility. The staff members are awesome and the volunteers are as well. I should know because I volunteer there 🙃 please consider adopting before buying an animal. There are so many babies who could use forever homes.

Nice facility. The staff is sorely lacking in their service. Adoption costs are high. I hope you have a better experience than I did. If you're looking for an animal officer who wants to found homes for their charges visit Seekonk or East Providence.

This is the most beautiful state-of-the-art shelter I have ever seen! The people that volunteer their time are absolutely wonderful, dedicated, charismatic and friendly people! The Animal control officer is very professional and is very confident in what he is doing for the animals! I had a wonderful experience at the shelter. I enjoyed teaching them hands on pet CPR and first aid techniques.

Bristol Animal shelter does not abide by their own policies. I called the shelter the day of because I had wanted to adopt a kitten. I called to clarify that I had all the relevant documents so that the process would go smoothly. However, upon my arrival, I was met by a women who was in charge of adoptions. She looked at me and asked- "Are you a university student?" and I said "Yes". She said "sorry we do not allow students to adopt until they graduate." NO WHERE on their website does it say students are not allowed to adopt an animal. Where is this hidden policy? Why hasn't it been updated and published? Anyways, if you would like to adopt from Bristol Animal Shelter- A place where bias, discrimination, and hypocrisy prevails - then I would recommend this shelter. It is extremely unfortunate that a shelter animal was denied the opportunity to have a loving parent. Bristol Animal Shelter needs to clean up their act, be upfront with prospective adoptive parents, and stop wasting peoples time. Employees should not misinform individuals as it does not reflect well on the organization or functionality of the shelter.

Hi Lorine, No you do not need to make an appointment. If you could call before you come to make sure the officer is there and not on a call. The number is 401/253-4834. If there are any further questions please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you.
The Bristol animal shelter will only take them if they come from the town of Bristol if not I would try the SPCA in East Providence
