Really nice castle. Never knew how much this man contributed to our lives. Truly an amazing inventor, and it was amazing to see how well everything has been cataloged and preserved. The musical performances were a great added touch.

Just a beautiful castle on the ocean. So lovely! I really want to go again. I attended when there was a small renaissance fair/vendor fair, but I’d enjoy going again just for a tour of the castle and to learn more of its history.

Great place to visit with your family or friends! They offer guided and self guided tours and the castle is filled with lots of art pieces and historic objects. Each room is unique and interesting. I don’t know if younger kids would enjoy but teenagers and adults would definitely find it very fun.

What a gorgeous place, and what an interesting tour! If you're in the area, definitely stop by and check it out. Some helpful things for visitors; if you're debating on whether or not to take the guided tour, I highly recommend doing so; you get to learn a lot of fun facts about the buildings and the Hammonds themselves, and you'll still be able to wander the grounds to your hearts content after the guided part is over. If you're just stopping by and don't want to commit to a time slot for the guided tour, there's a sign in the parking lot with a QR code where you can pay on site to look around on your own. It's a castle, so there are a LOT of stairs and some narrow spaces - not the best for small children or anyone with mobility issues. Both the guided tour and the self-guided tour can be as long or short as you'd like, but try to set aside some time to look at all of the neat little details throughout the castle.

Hi Jeana, Hammond Castle's Halls of Darkness is Friday and Saturday nights, October 25 & 26th. This will be the last weekend for 2019 so we hope you can make it!
Depends if you take it all in or breeze by ...I would say 30 minutes for a straight walkthrough or 1-2 hours if you take it all in and enjoy (recommended)
I live in BRUNSWICK ME. I think any restoration fund should begin in Massachusetts, but I would be willing to contribute the restoration.
There's a couple sets of stairs, and they can be fairly narrow. There's not a huge amount overall though.
He is known as father of radio control. One invention we still use to this day, the remote control.
You should call to confirm. At a recent reception, I saw a sign advertising $15 for adults.
You are allowed to walk the castle grounds during your designated tour time.
Adults - $18, kids - $10, tickets are timed, should be purchased in advance. They also have candlelight tours and siritual tours. More info here https://www.hammondcastle.org/product-category/general-admission/
September 29th is the last day of the daily 2019 season. Check the Hammond Castle website event calendar for special events for the rest of 2019. There's lots going on! While the summer season has been winding down there's still a lot of special events going on in the Museum.
General admission tickets for the Museum are sold on site in the gift shop. Advance tickets for special events are available for purchase online.
Hammond Castle Museum welcomes service dogs. Service dogs must be on a leash or harness and under the control of the owner at all times. In accordance with federal and state law, emotional support, comfort animals and pets are not permitted in the Museum or as part of outdoor Museum events. Thank you for your interest in Hammond Castle Museum.
I'm sure it depends on the guide. We didn't take the guided tour, opting for the self-guided option instead but I wish we had gone with the guide. It's the same charge and the guides we overheard on our visit were great! They obviously enjoyed their work and made it far more interesting than it was without the guide.
I'm not really sure they may have the answer at the customer service. The staff was very helpful and friendly.
The season ends on Sep 29. Not sure if they are still open for special events. You may want to call.
Tours end last day of September. Nightly tours only held on Thursdays
Regular admission is $14, seniors are $10, & kids are $9
The Museum is open 7 days a week in the summer, 10am - 4pm with the last entrance ticket sold at 3:30pm.
I think it could be a good deal. Call them!
When was her visit? There are several tour guides at Hammond Castle Museum, all very good and trained by our wonderful tour guide Scott. Thank you for your interest in Hammond Castle Museum.

Part of the grounds are not available when the Museum is closed, but you can park and appreciate much of the front of the Museum, and appreciate the ocean view. Late October there maybe be Halloween decorations in place for the annual Haunted Castle. Thank you for your interest in Hammond Castle Museum.
There are several staircases. A stroller would be difficult. A hiking pack would be alittle awkward in places, but ok. A little one would like the great hall. Room to move around and great accustics. Also the area between the castle and the ocean is fenced in.
Theres no way to use a scooter. Sorry.
Yes. Just go on Trivago and ask for hotels in Rockport and Gloucester, Massachusetts and it will bring up all the hotels and prices that will be affordable for you. Make a weekend of it because there is so much to see. You will be glad you did
A renaissance festival! You should definitely check it out!
When we were there last Summer, we were charged admission and took a free, Self-guided tour which included a map of the castle and grounds preceded by a free informative movie. Website lists the following: Admission fees: Adults $12. Senior Citizens (65 yrs +) $10. Children (ages 6 to 12) $9.
There is a $10 entry fee if you want to go inside the castle. But its definitely worth. You would be done seeing the whole thing in about 2-3 hours
The museum is closed for the season but the haunted happenings is open
