There's a couple sets of stairs, and they can be fairly narrow. There's not a huge amount overall though.
Plain and simple folks, if you have difficulty climbing stairs, it would be wise to avoid half of the castle. Please ask for assistance. This place wasnt built for handicapped people.
No. If you want to go to the upstairs chambers, you can, but it's not necessary to enjoy the gist of the castle. However, if you can comfortably do so, I recommend the short flight up to the inner courtyard, and the short flight down to the back exterior grounds for a beautiful view of the island.
There are 2-3 sets of stairs to get around in the castle. However, many more hidden staircases exist with spiral, steep and narrow stairs. If you do not navigate stairs well, avoid these.

A short spiraling stairwell from the front first floor to the lower dinning area. Which in turn leads outside to a set of stairs leading outback.
