Parking lot and dog run always muddy. Entire perimeter is securely fenced, but dog trap gate entrance in need of repair. Patrons are a mix of all breeds, sizes and temperaments. Owners are as varied as the dogs. Most are confident and know how to handle their pet. Some mistake the park for their private protected yard. Be prepared to both reprimand and defend your dog. Small dogs beware.

I love Andover but this dog park is pathetic. I feel like a dog park isn’t just a place for the dogs to meet but also the owners. Its not very comfortable for the owners. It’s a disgusting dog park and it’s disappointing. How can we update our dog park? Who should we contact to make it better?

Fairly standard dog park. Obstacles to play on but no water available. There’s some walking trails around the park which is good to calm your dog down with after a play. They run close to the highway but are mostly fenced off from it.

At this point, the dog park is best in the winter, when there is snow cover for the park sand. The spring and summer has nasty water run-off from the (yard waste dump area) on the hill above the park. The park has no drainage and the sand builds up on the lower sides of the park, exposing a nasty under layer of asphalt mixed with mud. My dog loves cold weather and snow in particular, so this works out great. The other dog owners tend to be kind, courteous, and (most) pay attention to their dogs behavior and poop duty.

Questions & Answers

Is there a separate area for small dog. And does it have water provide

There's no separate area for small dogs, and there are often a lot of bigger dogs there. Sometimes people bring gallons of water and leave them, and everyone is usually good at sharing. But if you're there alone, don't expect there to be water.

No, unfortunately 😕

We may be adopting a retired greyhound. Would he be able to run loose? If so, does he need to be muzzled?
