The only good things about my experience was that I was not charged anything and there were two very sweet dogs. This shop cannot provide accurate insurance appraisals based upon what I experienced, and you should not go here for an appraisal. I booked an appointment here for an insurance appraisal of a ring I bought from an online auction site—I made it clear I wasn’t sure if the stone in the ring was lab or mined and that this was a key part of the appraisal. I also brought in some loose gems that I was hoping could be identified by the gemologist. When I arrived, the non-gemologist looked at my loose stones and said what she thought they were with full confidence that she was right, without using any equipment to check hardness, refractive index, density, or anything. There are too many gems that have similar visual properties to be identified this way, and to name them with confidence without any testing is irresponsible and incorrect. I was told that he “doesn’t like appraising things off the internet” and ultimately he said that given the setting he was unable to determine what the origin of the stone is (which would be the most important part of the appraisal). I was also told by the non-gemologist that the worth of the setting is in the diamonds, even though they are all minuscule, and it wouldn’t be in the platinum or main stone (she also made a comment that the ring looks like silver but is stamped platinum, which the gemologist did not respond to). As someone who has a sizeable jewelry collection and has looked into this with other pieces, this is completely inaccurate—whether melee is mined or lab it’s almost always worthless and tossed, and the money is in the metal setting. She then was using a diamond testing pen on the melee diamonds and struggling as it wasn’t working accurately, which is a massive shortcut—those tester pens are not reliable and an insurance appraisal should not involve them at all. The gemologist looked at my loose gems and said that two are “fake.” When I asked for clarification of whether they were some synthetic, like lab sapphire or something else, he looked at me like I had 3 heads and repeated “Fake,” like that was enough of an answer. When pressed he said maybe they’re glass and it doesn’t matter because they’re scratched anyways. This is not on par with what a GIA gemologist should say or how an accurate insurance appraisal should proceed.

Terrible customer service. I left a watch for repair and was told 8-10 days. Not a word for 3 weeks. I called. I was told the matter would be researched and I'd get a call back. No one called back. Finally I went in personally and was told the watch had come back but was still not running. It was sent back to the repairman with no explanation as to what the problem was. Two weeks later a call came to come get the watch. I went in today to find the watch was still not running!!! The clerk had no explanation - just a "sorry." I am incredulous at how poorly they have handled my situation. Oh, BTW, they wanted $15 to take out a link from a new watch band. I went to KB in Bedford Center - done in 5 minutes for $7. You can do way better than Bedford Jewelers

This is the most wonderful, ecclectic jewelry store! They have the most diverse taste, from silver to gold, precious and semi-precious stones, and the prices are very appropriate. A great eye for quality and uniqueness. If vintage is your passion, they even have estate pieces. I urge you to check them out!

We do replace watch bands! We have metal and leather options available. Some brands we cannot do if they have a brand specific bands but we can do most!
We do carry light gold chains in store up to 20". For Men's chains we do carry them but they are order only.
