I would suggest anyone that’s serious about adopting to definitely go here during open hours. He was so nice he did everything he could to find the perfect dog for me.

David is the animal whisperer. A beautiful beagle BENNY. has come to his rescue home. David is a wonderful. Kind caring gentleman. A true credit to his profession. Thank you Lakeville Animal Shelter. Smiles. Bill and Deb TERRY. Bennys parents.

Our shelter adopted out a dog to a man in MA. The man violated the terms of his contract and dumped the dog in a shelter in MA. I tracked the dog through it's microchip to this place. David assured me that Odie was safe & had been adopted. When I asked why there were no photos of our dog on his social media page like every other animal he's taken in, he said he'd posted video of himself playing with the dog in an equipment room. Our Odin has never played. We had him here for nearly 10 months. I know my dogs. He's too traumatized - he doesn't "play." So I asked for a photo or some proof that my dog was alive. He stopped responding to me and blocked me on social media. While I was following his page, I saw posts of dogs removed whenever there was a question or something that made him uncomfortable. At one point he was fundraising to help a dog and we offered to pay it's entire $3,500 vet bill & he deleted the posts of the dog completely. I'm sure they have had numerous successes and try like all rescues but he really failed me & I can't stop worrying about Odin and wondering if he's alive or not. I did make it perfectly clear that we have no intent to try to take a dog away from any happy home - I just want some kind of closure. I want to know if he's alive. I love him. And as of now - I just can't trust this place. It may be a great place from which to adopt a dog - but I sure wouldn't recommend ever taking one there.

I had to pick up someone else's dogs late 1 night & didn't know what I would be getting into. I was just grateful I could get them after hours on a Friday night! I had no problem finding this place at all in the dark. A very friendly David Frates had met me outside. He was very helpful & made me feel comfortable to know that he had the dogs safely in his care. He had assured me that the 2 dogs I was picking up had been in the best of conditions they had to offer there. He could tell they were scared & clung to each other so, as for having to put them in kennels he was kind enough to put them across from each where they could see each other & hopefully ease their tension & nerves. While there he had showed me another young dog that was available to be adopted & looked very healthy. I had noticed the conditions were clean in each kennel with a dog along with food & fresh water. He also tried comforting me & letting me know that while they do serve multiple communities & local towns, they do NOT euthanize or KILL any animals that are held there & waiting to find a "furever home & family"! Anyone that wants to complain about this place should make a donation, help with fundraising, volunteer their time, or speak a town leader about how they can help instead of bad mouthing the place! They are always there when needed to hold an animal if need be until they can be adopted out but there's many situations that can lead to an animal being held here that I don't think everyone considers. They do a lot from helping the neighborhood boy get his lost dog back to taking into custody any pets that might be in a vehicle when someone is getting arrested before they tow the vehicle away. They do their best to make those animals feels comfortable until someone can go claim them. As for having dogs that bite, they could just be scared from the location their in. Give them all a chance and maybe in a loving home environment they would never consider biting. Maybe they just need a little time to get some training... be considerate & showing compassion to all living animals. People please understand this is a shelter that covers a lot of areas & needs all the support they can get & they do NOT kill the animals as if they have a deadline! They spade & neuter any needed animals that they put up for adoption & rabies will be up to date as the law requires all animals to have! Overall, he seems to personally care very much for the animals trusted in his care at this shelter. I'm sure you could always call & someone would let you know what's currently available for adoption or visit during their scheduled hours. PLEASE TRY TO MICROCHIP & LICENSE YOUR PET AS REQUIRED IN YOUR TOWN/CITY & THAT COULD MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE IN GETTING YOUR LOST PET BACK! PLEASE SPADE & NEUTER YOUR PETS THERE'S PLENTY OUT THAT NEED ADOPTING & PLEASE SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL ANIMAL SHELTER, THEY USUALLY HAVE A LONG LIST OF ITEMS THEY COULD UTILIZE INSTEAD OF YOU THROWING THINGS OUT NOT NEEDED (ex: old blankets, towels, sheets ect) YOU COULD CALL & ASK IF IT'S NEEDED OR DONATE YOUR TIME POSSIBLY IF YOU CAN'T AFFORD ANY MONETARY DONATIONS SINCE I'M SURE ALL DOGS LOVE WALKS WHENEVER THEY GET THE CHANCE! 🐶💞😻💕👨👩👧👦🐕💑❣

I would call to ask. I'm sure any help walking, feeding &/or cleaning for the animals needs to be done as long as they have any. That's very nice of you to offer to spend time doing such a great thing! If they don't need help, I'd try Taunton Animal Shelter. Good luck and thank you from one animal lover to another😻🐶❣
The shelter does take donations. There's a bin in front of the fence if no one is there.
I don't know that. Sorry
I'd try calling or maybe you can find something on Facebook? I believe the animal control officer's name is David Frates? Good luck
