The only apparent time to make an appointment using the IRS phone number is if you are first in line. So, I called at 7:00 a.m. on the dot and managed to get a human being. They arranged an appointment at the Albany, NY Tax Assistance Center for this morning at 9:30 a.m. I showed up with all the necessary paperwork relating to my mother's estate. I asked the assistant (Kim) if she could give me information regarding my mother's 2019 federal taxes that I filed (as executor of her estate) in March of 2020. The Where's My Return portion of the website gives me no information. I knew more than she did. Absolutely useless. I presented her with all of my Letters Testamentary and the Oneida County Surrogate's Court documentation that clearly outlines my appointment as Fiduciary. She kept asking me for the documentation, that I had already clearly given her. I gave her my IRS Estate EIN documentation, which I could not have gotten unless I had been appointed Fiduciary. A whopping 40 minutes later, she finds a statement that "If you filed your taxes between March 23, 2019 and October 2020 and have not received a refund, please refile your tax return." Seriously?!?! All this baloney and run around, and that's all you've got after 40 minutes? If I could give 0 stars I would.

Absolutely rude impatient woman screamed at me "Don't talk over me!" and transferred me to extension with recording saying question you are calling about has a long line, call another day" total nightmare, frustrating

Absolutely useless. They hold ppls tax refunds and give no options to fix the issue but instead give phone numbers that dnt reach anyone and make ppl who actually work and do things the right way wait months for their money. The system is a broken joke and everyone who works for irs and has anything to do with federal tax refunds should seriously be disgusted with themselves.

Me, too! This is crazy.
I have not received my refund for 2020 taxes you accepted it on Feb 13, 2021 can I get an answer
Yes they should be able to help you out if you can get in
This happened to me and the letter was to verify who you are in my case it could be different for you. Your best option is to call them which is a pain in itself and see what it is about. If you haven't received any stimulus or refunds then that's what the letter is about. Be prepared to call all day as well to even get through then be on hold for an hour minimum
Prove?
U have to call really early in the day. Also yes they are rude just kill them with kindness sometimes in life u have to do that! Hope I could help have a blessed night!
Make an appointment with it closest irs office to see someone
I believe you can, if you go to the irs website and fill in all you're info. And you should get a copy of the past year.
No! Just hang up. It's a total scam. The IRS would not call anybody and threaten them over the phone. I mean really? What's wrong with you?
NOTHING! It's a scam! Hang up! Do not do ANYTHING. CRIMINALS ARE DOING THIS!
