The team at Animal Emergency and Referral of York is amazing! We took our dog to them for emergency surgery that another animal hospital couldn’t do. The surgery was a success and everyone we dealt with there was so kind. They not only gave him excellent care during the surgery, but all of the staff loved up on him and took amazing care of him until we could take him home. I can’t recommend them enough! Diesel and his humans are so grateful for the whole staff!

My puppy needed an emergency visit so I tried taking him nearby but most places were closed. Those that were open would not accept him. This place did which I am grateful for. Its a 2 hour drive from me and I needed to get him checked out asap. They told me the wait would be 3-4 hours. Thats a really long time. Turns out I had to wait over 6 hours to finally get him looked at. Also the information they gave me was not enough. Basically drove two hours away, waited 6 hours, and paid $160 for nothing. They would also not listen to what happened to him and why he got his injury which would of made the information they gave me inaccurate. Long story short if you are in need of an emergency visit and your pet needs to be looked at quick this place is not it. Would consider going somewhere else.

We arrived at 8:30 AM because Shores Animal Hospital diverted us here. Our Boston Terrier was struggling to breathe. She was not seen by a vet until 9:55. The vet clearly had not looked at the reason we were here and said oh she snorts. I responded that no this was not normal for her which is why we came. She said she would order X rays and that her abdomen felt doughy but she wasn’t sure if that was normal for our dog. At 9:57 she said she’d order x rays and it would be 45 minutes. By 11:30, we had not received a call. I called to inquire. She rudely said she was waiting for results. By 12:50, we had still heard nothing. We called again. She was very snarky and said you called 20 minutes ago. When we said, it had almost been an hour and a half. She said “let’s go with that.” She had no diagnosis but said she’d give her an antibiotic and discharge her in about 15 minutes. We are still waiting (30 minutes later). This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. We had to drive 45 minutes to get here to get this garbage experience. We will have to go elsewhere to find out what is wrong with our dog. Thankfully this wasn’t life or death because she would not have survived.

I brought my sweet kitten here on 2/3/22 as our regular vet was unable to treat her. They were very friendly and kind. They were clear with what they thought would be helpful to determine what the next route would be and cost. Unfortunately, I had to make a tough decision to let me beautiful girl cross the rainbow bridge but Dr. Lauren Keibler and Ashley H were so kind and caring in the most difficult time. They allowed me as much time as I need to spend with her before we put her down and then allowed me time after as well. I greatly appreciate the team here!

They accept Care Credit which is like a credit card you apply for. If you get it, depending on the bill, you can have 6 months to a year to pay with no interest.
