Had a tricky transaction; registration of a new car purchased out of state with an exchange of plates from a car sold. Yasmin Knight helped me efficiently with a smile. Having had experiences with Divisions of Motor Vehicles in other states, Lee County does seem to try and make transactions smooth and as pleasant as possible in my experience. However, out of the numerous transactions I have had with MV in Lee County, the service at this location provided by Yasmin certainly has been superior!

Downtown Lee County tax collectors office went above and beyond helping me with a difficult situation. My agent was Michelle number 13 and I cannot say enough about her sweet professional & personality along with The knowledge and understanding that it takes to be a good agent or person at anything that you do. Thank you Michelle for being a genuine person. Fran

I went into Motor vehicles on July 27th with my appointment. I waited about 5 minutes before they called me. I stepped up to the window with some major problems about a title that I didn't have for my old Dodge van. The lady I was dealing with ( Marie ) was extremely pleasant. Nice smile and ready for the challenge with my dilemma. After a good 1/2 hour - 45 minutes of looking for the title and dealing with managers with a lot of patience on Marie's part, It was all taken care of. This is not the first time the downtown motor vehicles was helpful. Every time I go there it seems to all be a great experience. I think people get frustrated with motor vehicles department because they are unprepared when they go and want the Motor vehicle department to take care of the problems that most people have put on there selves. Do your homework before you enter the DMV. The more paperwork you have and the more knowledge you have including being as nice as you can to the employees really does pay off. These employees are people too and have family's just like you and me. Treat them with respect and you will find that you will get a lot better service. Thanks again Marie and the manager that was working along side of her on the 27th of June at 9:15am

I have been so impressed with this DMV recently! Employees walking in and saying hello and good morning with genuine kindness. Seeing the team get ready before doors were opening with positive encouragement for their employees and fun put me in a better mood, and I didn't even participate. The system of checking in with the appointments has made the process pain free. There is a chance that you might wait but for just a short amount of time. Great job! Keep up the good work!

The Hazmat-endorsed license will be automatically mailed to the customer. If you don't receive the license in the mail by September 15th, please visit any service center to apply for a no-fee replacement. An appointment is not required but is recommended for fastest service (appointment type in this case would be “Driver License or ID Change or Replacement”).
I am unable to answer your question.
Good morning. If your title is electronic you can order it from the MyDMVPortal. (https://mydmvportal.flhsmv.gov/Home/en/Account/Landing) If the title is paper, you will most likely be receiving it by mail from the lienholder within a few weeks. You would have to contact the lienholder for further information. If the paper title was lost, you would need to submit a copy of your identification and completed HSMV 82101 (https://www.flhsmv.gov/pdf/forms/82101.pdf) to the Lee County Tax Collector's Contact Center to apply for a duplicate title by mail. Here is the address: DMV - Vehicle and Vessel Titles and Registrations Lee County Tax Collector PO Box 1590 Fort Myers, FL 33902-1590
Thanks for the question. Yes, you may be eligible to reinstate your license online through the Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles portal: mydmvportal.flhsmv.gov. Thanks Brianna for the assist!

Hi Daniel! While we recommend an appointment we do take a limited number of same-day walk-ins based on staffing and the number of people already waiting. Thanks!

The person you are purchasing the vehicle from must have a title issued in their name in order to sell it to you.
Approximately $85.75 for the title transfer (add $10 if current title is from another state) plus sales tax at 6.5%. Plate/registration is a separate fee that varies greatly based on your situation.
