This is an amazing nonprofit. They are an advocacy and educational organization serving providers who serve people facing homelessness.

I have a bunch of towels, bedspreads, blankets, kitchenware, etc available for donation and I don’t want to give it all to a place that’s going to resell it. If I make a donation will the items be given away freely to people who need it?

North Shore Alliance Church in North Fort Myers has a Blessing Closet, where we gather used clothing and other items (not toys, dishes or furniture) for use by lower income and homeless individuals. We ask that items be clean and in good shape. We have clothing for all ages and sizes. We are a small program, but we never sell anything. We also give away food and household items to people who live on the streets, (snacks, sanitary items, toothbrushes and paste etc). We give towels and blankets to people who need them. Hope this helps

I'd like to get involved with whatever organizations and agencies who deal with homelessness. I've read about interesting, relatively low cost options that can give though in need a true hand up, not just a temporary fix. Where should Ibstart?

Do the accept clothes donations ?

Rosa Cuellar | Sep 2, 2020
Lee County Homeless Coalition | Sep 2, 2020

Thank you for thinking of us but we do not accept clothing donations. We are not a shelter and do not provide direct services so storing clothing would be difficult. We do accept hygiene items and give these out to provider agencies for distribution. I would suggest you contact one of the shelters- the Salvation Army or Fort Myers Rescue Mission regarding your donation. Thank you.
