The problem was misdiagnosed. After receiving an estimate, I tried to drain the fuel by disconnecting the fuel line, and opening the shut-off valve. No fuel was coming from the tank! Evidently the valve is stuck or there is an obstruction in the tank. I , obviously, don't need a new carburetor.
