We stayed here 6/19-6/21. The staff are friendly, the rooms were mostly clean. The hotel and grounds are run down, at best. The parking lot has more pot holes and gravel than blacktop, and that isn't an exaggeration. The entrance doors have a 1/2+ inch gap between them so cannot be secured. I found a penny and a quarter on the floor of our room, which suggests that vacuuming is not thorough. The A/C unit in the room was incredibly loud. Sounded like someone starting up a semi truck in the room. The hotel decor has not been updated in more than 20 years. The style is long past and things are showing a lot of wear and tear. Low ceilings and no interior windows make the hotel very dark. The most offensive thing is the price. This is an old, ill-kept hotel charging mid-range prices. The lack of upkeep simply doesn't justify the price. Stay here only if there is nothing else available.

The parking lot is in poor condition. there are places with deep holes that look like if you drove there enough, you would damage your vehicle. There were no sprinklers in the room my family stayed in, and none in the hallways. I assume there were none in the entire motel. Good thing there was no fire. The finish around the windows is cracked, peeling, and dirty. The mattress is too soft in some places and too hard in others. Made for a very uncomfortable nights sleep. If everything else isn't bad enough, there was no hot breakfast in the morning and a big bill at checkout. The woman behind the front desk didn't even ask us how our stay was. She is probably tired of hearing the complaints. There are plenty of nice places to stay in the Duluth area. The Econo Lodge is not one of them.

Decent hotel for the price. Everything was clean and the beds were comfy, the breakfast was small but had an adequate range of choices for everyone. Definitely could use an update: carpets and curtains are worn, the parking lot is a catastrophe, card readers on the room doors are finicky. But a perfectly adequate hotel if you’re just looking for a nice bed.

The staff was great. Did what they could to make guests feel welcome. The condition of the hotel was terrible. Hot tub out of order. Light cover that was on the floor. Very old looking and the parking lot was terrible. The parking lot needs to be replaced. The potholes are so big and deep had to try and dodge them while driving and walking. If a vehicle is damaged or someone takes a nasty fall due to the potholes the hotel would be liable even though the sign says they are not. The owners of the hotel must keep the property in good order and the owners have failed miserably.
