I just want to say what a great experience I had renting an apartment at Portola Redlands. I was stressed out and had to find an apartment quickly. Alyssa and Vivian, the leasing person and manager, made it a wonderful experience. They were very knowledgeable and super helpful. I truly had a great experience dealing with Alyssa and Vivian.

I lived in one of the smaller 2 bedroom units for a year. Overall it was fine, I've lived in better and worse apartments. Units are pretty spacious, nice huge closets, tons of counter space in the kitchen. Perhaps the best thing about this place is having a garage. Even the smaller single car garages have enough length to put a small bit of shelving in at the end and my Corolla still fit no problem and kept the apartment free of clutter. Plus having a dedicated parking spot was great because finding parking can otherwise be difficult. I'm not sure when they rebranded to Renew but with the new name seems to have come a number of unit improvements. Prior to moving in the refrigerator, stove/range, dishwasher, and Kevo electronic deadbolt were all clearly brand new. The Nest thermostat may have been new, but it had been painted over so not sure. The kitchen had new flooring as well. However, the buildings themselves are definitely older. Over the course of the year, we had to have the AC unit, some faucets, and the garage door opener and keypad replaced. All credit to Sergio, he was always prompt to fix our issues and didn't hesitate to completely replace a part if it was acting up. As for the not so great things, the move in and move out experiences were disappointing. We scheduled our time to arrive but were called an hour before saying the apartment wasn't ready as they were still installing flooring. When we did get inside, there were a number of issues like a broken shower door, leaking dishwasher, cupboards that wouldn't close because the hinges had been painted over countless times, and exposed wires from the doorbell hanging in the closet. We couldn't walk barefoot inside for weeks because there were so many thorns in the carpet. Sergio was apologetic and took care of all the issues, no problem. After move out there were charges against our deposit, some legitimate, some petty, but the real kick in the pants was the $275 painting charge, which apparently is just to be expected and can't be refuted even though new paint was absolutely unnecessary. Other thoughts: The windows are single pane and terrible, the majority of our AC bill was due to them not being able to retain cool air. The bedroom window rattled when it was windy. The Mixet faucets are awful and whoever engineered them should be ashamed, they were constantly stuck. The patio space was great, the landscaping is immaculate. We adopted a dog while we were here and had no issues during that process. Residents I met there were mostly very nice, a high number of families seem to live here. I never had a bad experience dealing with Katrina or Sergio. Overall, ReNew Redlands is fine. This review may seem overly negative but what apartment isn't without any issues? The majority of our time here was pleasant and the problems that we did have were mostly resolved quickly.

If I could give it no stars that would still be too many... this place is run down beyond the new name. Everything is falling apart. Air conditioning is the worst I've ever seen. Had a company come out to evaluate and they said all of the units are way over due to be replaced. The ducting is collapsing and the condensing and blower units are way out of date. Toilets that are cracked, faucets that have no decent flow of water. Don't waste your money or be bamboozled by the fresh coat of paint.

I don't care much for the management. They constantly try to enter my unit due to an "emergency" yet there is no emergency. I missed a flight due to it I even explain the situation without any consideration on their part. I had no AC for two weeks and I notified the maintenance section of their residence login at least 4-5 times..... That to me would seem like an emergency being that I had a child in the home. I believe they're way overpriced. And I now know why I see many garage doors open and empty. I even had men try to enter my unit without consent or with a 24 hour notice. I wasn't dressed when they began to knock. And without even waiting for a response began to unlock the door. when they couldn't unlock the door they came back an hour later with more keys trying to unlock the door. Being a victim of domestic violence that incident totally made me feel unsafe. Luckily I have it saved on my door ring device and had changed the lock prior. The irony of that specific issue is they were part of some water saving program but at midnight every night a sprinkler that's been broken for weeks sprays out water for at least 20 minutes. Most recently the girl in the office after telling her I didn't feel comfortable with men in my home told me I had no choice so I changed my doctor's appointment and never received a call back from her in regards to this so called "emergency". When you rent a unit at any place you should feel safe in your home, whether your home or not. Their discretion on what's an emergency is very flawed.
