Hiking up the Mission Peak trail is a fun and good way to lose weight!!! I've been hiking this trail many times and it has never disappointed me. The trail itself is 6 miles out & back, with around 2,200 ft of elevation gain. Please note that 99.9% of this trail is exposed to the sun, so this hike is best done at either sunset or sunrise to avoid the heat ... It was a fun hike, a little steep yet with incredible views. I highly recommend this trail to everyone as it all starts with taking one step at a time & then just keep moving forward!!! Happy trials & Happy travels everyone!!!

Wonderful, steep hike with amazing views. Kiddos will complain but I saw some can make it at least part way. Parking is tight but plenty in the neighborhood below. Steep! But it’s really a fire road, not a trail so it’s not technical. About an hour brisk hike to the peak.

Great hike and amazing view! I was able to climb to the top in an hour and twenty minutes, though they say round trip is almost 4 hours.

It is a nice challenging hike. It’s a 5.8-6 miles hike and almost takes 4-5 hours. It is an open hike so carry enough water. Also it tends to be windy many times so so check the weather before commencing one. This hike is a good steep hike. One will spot wildlife while hiking. And it feels great on the summit while on a clear sunny day. Go for this hike!!

Yes, but only if your cat is capable of independently defending itself against rattlesnakes and hawks.
Yes. For a full hike, they get tired. It is like unnecessary punishment for dogs.
When you come to a fork after one hour and 45 minutes more or less, the one on the left will take you down to Ohlone College and the right one will take you to the peak after another two right turns and a final left turn up hill. The one that leads to Ohlone which is down hill has a rest room on your right hand side about 2 minutes walking distance depends on how tired you are. Cheers!
Yes, one at the entrance and a second where both trials converge.
more than two hours
Always keep an eye out, but by staying on the trial you limit the opportunity to see one.
