Everyone at the Placer County Animal Services was amazing! They were kind, helpful and professional. We found Betty White and she is a perfect addition to our family. Thank you all!

What a nice shelter. This new building and grounds are really nice, roomy, comfortable for the animals, easy for people to browse, easy signs to guide you around. Every time I've been there I've seen someone walking a dog out and about. Every one is nice and helpful even on the phone. I was going there for weeks hoping a dog would pick me and I knew it might take some time. After all, this is a shelter and not a pet store. Someone has to lose or surrender a pet in order for me to get a new best friend. Luckily I did, and me and my new best friend are doing great. I am making sure he is easily returned to me should he ever get lost as who ever lost him must be heart broken while I'm really happy.

Super friendly staff (reception, kennel attendants and volunteers). We adopted 2 kittens on 2 different visits. The facility is clean, modern and allows lots of room for the animals to move about. The process was easy and we love our newest family members. Thank you!

Absolutely! We can always use old towels and blankets for our shelter pets. Feel free to drop them off at 11232 B Avenue in Auburn from 9 am to 5 pm Monday through Saturday. Thank you for thinking of us and our shelter animals :-)
Hi there - Thanks for reaching out to us. Yes, we take donations and would gladly take any pet food. We are currently open to the public to look at animals. We have clear signage, plenty of hand sanitizer stations and some limits on the number of visitors but so far, things have gone smoothly and we have generally never exceeded the visitor number. We are open from 10 am - 5 pm Monday to Saturday to look at the animals. Hope to see you soon!
Don't know for sure, but they have a 'barn cat' program that offers for a very modest fee, feral cats that are fixed to people that can offer them a dry place to stay. They may be able to help.
The Animal Spay & Neuter Clinic in Auburn is a low-cost clinic that you can check. There are also a few options in Sacramento County. You can check out the information here - https://animalcare.saccounty.gov/SpayNeuter/Pages/Low-Cost-Spay-and-Neuter-Services.aspx
Hi there - unfortunately, we do not. We do offer trap rental (deposit only) for community members that are willing to trap cats to be returned altered and vaccinated to their original location. This is a great way to reduce cat populations and discourage unwanted feral cat behavior. This service is free, however we ask that you contact us to discuss appointments and availability at 530-886-5540
Thank you for reaching out about donating. We really appreciate it. We can definitely use blankets, but sleeping bags and pillows are harder for us to use since the dogs sometimes have too much fun playing with them and may eat stuffing or zippers. We are open from 9 - 5 Monday to Saturday for donation drop off. Thank you again!
You can surrender your animals here for a fee. The workers and volunteers here are compassionate people and will take good care of him while he's here. Have you thought about a German shepard reacue?
Hi there - In general, we are not able to accept animals for euthanasia except for in very specific situations outlined in our state law. If you have veterinary records documenting an end of life disease or illness, you are welcome to contact us at 530-886-5541 to discuss the situation.
You are welcome to call us at 530-886-5540 and we can give you an update. Thanks!
Hi there - Our Animal Control Fax number is 530-886-5538
Hi there- We are so sorry to hear about your missing dog. If you haven't found him, please take a look at our lost pets page on our website at placer.ca.gov/LostPets regularly. The page is updated every 30 minutes. You may also want to post his information on Craigslist, NextDoor and on the Placer County Lost and Found pets page on Facebook. Can you also send us a discription of Remmy so we can be on the lookout at the shelter? Thank you.
My experience with people that work here has been very good. Contact them directly and I'm sure they will help you out as much as possible.
Unfortunately - we are not allowed to share that information. However, if you want to give them your number to contact you if they wish to do so, we would be happy to call them and let them know.
HI there - both Cosmo and Leo have been adopted :-) Leo was adopted last Friday 10/18 and Cosmo was adopted on 9/25.
Awww. Very happy for her. Sweet girl. Thank you
yes you can definitely bring your cat here. there is a surrendering fee. this shelter also has very hight adoption rates for their cats! you should give them a call for more information.
Yes there are a couple young ones. Although there was an open house Saturday so you'll need to call or go visit. There are some really wonderful dogs that aren't puppies too.
With a dog, if it barks more than 15 or 20 minutes straight without reason, owner may be cited. Guessing similar rules would apply to all pets. Worth contacting animal control in a situation like what you describe. Besides difficulties with owner, a lot of animals have protected status, so likely best not to take matters into your own hands.
If Placer County requested records for shots (which would of been odd for a scratch, they usually only worry about bites or more serious) you should of been provided an email address by the placer county animal officer, probably on a business card.
The dogs change quite frequently, it is always worth your while to go in and check them out😊 you never know some little guy may capture your heart and you can take him or her home to a forever home😊😊😊
What city do you live in? If you are in the city limits of Auburn, Rocklin or Roseville, you will want to call their Animal Control Department directly. If you live in any other area of Placer County, you will call our Animal Control Dispatch at 530-886-5500
Hi there - We are hosting a free microchip clinic (first 100 pets) this Saturday and Sunday from 10 am - 2 pm in front of the Rocklin Petsmart. Please bring your dog down and we can get this taken care of. Thanks!
We offer discounted adoptions to seniors that adopt senior pets, however right now all of our dogs and cats are available for adoption for just $10 through November 24th!
Hi there. Unfortunately, we do not offer boarding at our facility. There are several local boarding facilities and even some of our local vets offer boarding for cats.
Hello - We only spay/neuter the dogs and cats that are in our care. We do partner with Animal Spay & Neuter clinic in Auburn for low-cost spay/neuter surgeries and we funded a free cat and kitten spay/neuter event that goes through June. You may want to check with them to see if they have any spots still available
It depends on if your dog is spayed/neutered. If spay/neutered, they are $21 per year. If not spayed/neutered, they are $42 per year.
