Staff seemed overwhelmed by our group. Did the best they could but needed more of them. Otherwise very nice rooms, clean grounds and facility.

Here’s my final word on The Villagio… What you get here is location & proximity. The lobby has a sexy contemporary vibe… but what good is a lobby really? It didn’t really make a great breakfast location because it’s not truly equipped for that. (Breakfast is included but it’s in the lobby and it’s continental.) The rooms are well suited with nice fixtures & finishes, but they’re not that well equipped for the winter season. The wall heater was a bit insufficient and the doors are drafty. My room was cold. The fireplaces are a nice aesthetic touch but not that much heat from those logs. Lastly, my room had ants. (Not a huge deal breaker but that was a first for an upscale hotel.) - I am reducing to 2 stars because another review had ants a month ago. The service is 7/10. The breakfast left something to be desired. I think they’re re-using day old bagels. They could improve with a hot breakfast. An omelette station, some mimosas & bloody Mary’s would go a long way. I may come back during the summer or spring but not sure I’d become a regular. The high ceilings and the room itself were my fav.

Villagio is a nice hotel but you're paying a premium for the location more than hotel quality. I honestly wished I stayed at Carneros or Stanford Inn. Some things are quite wonderful. Valet service. Turn down service. White noise machines in the bedroom. However.. These hotel rooms were designed by aliens that have never stayed in anywhere.. ever. Where do I hang my towel to dry? Is there a luggage rack? Why is my closet just a rack hanging out in the open? Do my wife and I play rock, paper, scissors to decide who gets the only two useful dresser drawers? Why are there TWO hairdryers? Our room was next to the pool and suffered a lot of street noise and pool noise. In fact, the music from the pool kept me up our first night before I discovered how the white noise machine worked and that this wasn't a luxury but a necessity for maintaining sanity. Breakfast is .. complimentary at least? But not especially good. Maybe my expectations are simply too high here. Coffee is downright dreadful. My expectations are not too high here. Its awful. But free. We found ants on our bed and asked to have our sheets replaced. Housekeeping didn't replace the sheets but just made the bed. Ants were still there. Later housekeeping gave us turn down service, but still no clean sheets. Fortunately, one of the valets Chris saw that it was taken care of while we were at dinner. Valets are 10/10. Do a lot more than open doors and fetch cars. I don't know.. maybe the valets should manage the place because they seemed to be the only part of the hotel operating smoothly.

We were not overly impressed with the room we had. At nearly $1200/night I would have expected a larger room, with more amenities. There wasn’t even a shower cap. We requested feather free pillows and waited over 3 hrs to get them. Additionally, our first day, the room wasn’t cleaned by 6 pm. (We left our room at 9am). We had to complain repeatedly to get our room serviced. Even though the manager didn’t end up charging us for that night, it left us with a bad feeling. The breakfasts were adequate. All in all, our expectations were not met. When we stayed at the Vintage Inn a few years ago, we were much happier with the room and the breakfast. Chances are, we would not return to the Villagio.
