Very clean and equipped rest area. There are picnic tables there, but no food for sale, bring it with you

One of the states better rest areas. Because it's under continual surveillance, the ones who always ruin the nice places, stay away for the most part. I can actually stop here and feel I can relax for a bit without covering up all my windows (like I often do for any length of time at most other rest stops elsewhere.) Don't have the uneasy feeling some junkie might see me alone in my vehicle and decide to harass me for money or some sicko peeping in at me if I nap briefly. It's very clean (again, thanks to the riffraff staying away...) and it has several areas where you can walk and read information about the damn and the area and learn a little history. My favorite part is the large rock slab that was rescued when the dam was being built with petroglyphs, (the stories that could tell if it could really talk...) So, if You're in need of a place to stop on you're drive between Omak and Wenatchee, whether to learn, rest or use the facilities (or all of the above) this is definitely better than most rest stops. Just remember, someone's always watching, so don't do anything you'd be embarrassed about later...

Surprisingly clean restroom and interesting exhibits in the middle of Route 97!
