Mostly, I love East Bay Paratransit and their drivers. They are caring, helpful and do a difficult job very well, even though some riders are very difficult to serve. Lately, though, they have had to add different vehicles to their fleet due to losing so many drivers who didn't want to be vaccinated. The vans often have 3 point seatbelts with overly strong retraction springs. These put excessive pressure on a catheter in my chest, endangering my life. They don't even have seatbelt extenders, which would shift the pressure to a different area of my chest. If I refuse service at my home they won't dispatch a different vehicle, but they won't leave me stranded away from home. I can't even get them to avoid sending the vans and only send busses. Still working on how to work with the system to get safe service

Hard to make an appointment for renewals due to covid precautions

I tried calling 2 days ago to get a ride and I kept on being put on hold and a recording would come on to say to call back and then that happened two days ago two times four times yesterday which is Tuesday December 21st I finally get through calling early this morning at 8:40 a.m. to schedule an appointment for 1:00 I'm in a wheelchair and they want to evaluate me for my new knees cuz I lost 65 lb. When getting through to him they said they couldn't do the same day and I explained to him I can screenshot how many times I called they said it was impossible they have no other complaints about trying to get through to us I don't know what that has to do with me but I've called back and talked to another lady she said no. They could have if they wanted to I know this because it got me stuck two times on the bus driver didn't come back to pick me up from other doctor's appointments 5 or 8 Miles away and they say they do this all the time they're able to call another bus and have him come out and get me or or call another bus or whoever is in the area to transport people. They were nice but rude and a professional way
